Before and after plans for Old Farmhouse
Comments (13)Hello, SweetAnnie, and welcome to the neighborhood. Our footprint on the earth is smaller than some, but we manage to LIVE LARGE. Oh yes, that French kitchen is a classic. I've thought about copper fixtures in the kitchen, and mostly decided to stick with stainless to match the appliances....BUT I do love copper pots. I also found some copper trays which I use for flower pot saucers, or for service boiled crawfish or boiled shrimp and crab. That is the way they do it in south Louisiana, and I like their style. I think I saw a bunch of copper containers in Pottery Barn home cat, and Williams Sonoma cat recently too. Lavender, if you get software for Christmas, please review it for us, so we know if it really works. I have Sweet Home which is free download, unless you wish to donate to them. Haven't figured it out totally, but did "furnish" our Alabama house. I even figured the square footage of that house, as it is now after bringing in the 10 x 10 sun porch and the 5 x 19 closet/bath bumpout, as being nigh on to 1000 square feet. By the time I redo the kitchen and add a wee bit to the master bedroom, another 180 sq feet, we will top out at 1180 feet. Or say 1200. Maximum. This is the floor plan I did with the Sweet Home software. I just upload it here to SHOW AND TELL. I won't describe what it represents on this thread, don't want to hijack Lavender's discussion. This is the two-dimensional plan. This is the three dimensional view...See MoreHelp please!! Farmhouse sink install?
Comments (41)The final outcome is the preferred method when doing a full overlay cabinet farm sink. This was just a kitchen designer not being in sync with the skills of her/your carpenter. Some farm sinks have the curved bottoms and since every sink is different, there's not a standard template to use....so you have to scribe it the best you can. You can definitely do it without a panel but you need REALLY REALLY experienced craftsmen to do it! Even then, no guarantee it will fit perfectly. But my main point here is, it can be done with or without the panel and the kitchen designer should always consider WHO is doing the install and their skill level. I prefer to use 'apron front' sinks that cover up the cutout. OP, your sink now looks great...and is installed as it should be. :-)...See MoreSectional Mistake / Designing an Old Farmhouse Living Room
Comments (9)Scary with no banister on your stairs. I see a hand rail. Is that sufficient? IMO the ladder should be on the wall with the art work on it (beside the dining room) Put the TV to the left...more in the middle of the wall. Take away the end table beside it...Add a floor lamp in the corner behind your sectional and a lamp on the end table. Sheer curtains will soften your room. Is one of the end tables .. the one by the TV....low enough to be used for a coffee table? If too high, maybe look for a small ottoman or small table or stool to use, if you think you have room for it....See MoreWorking to Make This Old House More Modern Farmhouse
Comments (42)Seeing this late, but I particularly like the allocation of wall-take-down assessment to a builder, I'm surprised you didn't go further and say designer instead of architect, haha. Very nice house and still good for a laugh. I'm always so sad when you see cute old houses for sale or on TV that have been reduced to white-washed, wallless shells of their former selves. Some of those people on house hunters and flipping wherever make such horrid suggests for how they could make a cute house theirs....See MoreRelated Professionals
