Baseboard and trim/casing experts - please need advice on thickness?
Comments (2)I don't know if there is a "rule" but a 1/2" baseboard dying into a 3/4" casing, even allowing for a casing edge profile, looks nice....See MoreBaseboards and trim advice!
Comments (8)I agree with you. That looks awful! If the skirt is wide enough to accept base and shoe, and you're planning to have base and shoe on each level. Base should also be ran on the skirt. However, if the skirt is just wide enough for base, and you still plan on having base and shoe on each level. Then the base should be run like the pictures I'm posting. You'll notice the skirt isn't wide enough to run both base and shoe. So on the landing, the shoe is terminated by using a mitered return. Shoe ending into skirt board. No shoe, just base. Base is not cut flush with wall. This is a compound mitered return where it ends so the profile of base wraps back to wall. Example of a shoe ending with a mitered return....See MoreAdvice on door and door trim color?
Comments (1)I like all trim, matching. I would paint it the same as the baseboards....See MoreTrim Advice Requested- Window, Door Casing, and Baseboard

If 6” baseboards are used, then door casing should be 3” or is there another dimension recommended for a modern look? Not certain what is used in this photo....See Morebossyvossy
