Help with what to put on the sideboard
Comments (14)I would move the lovely sideboard down so it is centered on the wall. It really is a wonderful piece. Move the plates over to the right side of the armoire once you center that on the wall, keeping the shelf on the other side. The bird on the shelf is a bit small - perhaps you could add another, taller one sometime, or tuck a small framed mirror behind it to balance the weight of the underside of the shelf. Then move the two bird pix over to the sideboard wall, hung on either side of the sideboard. Pull some of that blue from the pix into the table decor as another look. DonâÂÂt know if you would consider this, but I would think about taking one chair from each side of the table and putting them below the bird pix on either side of the sideboard. A little visual breathing space will let the design of the chairs really show. I would think about using the red oriental jar as a vase for an arrangement of greenery, some red berries or red dogwood branches, and some pheasant feathers tucked in. You can use the height there, and it will soften the look a bit, without adding a bunch of âÂÂstuffâ to the top of the sideboard. Finally, I hope you donâÂÂt mind me asking, but were the shades on the chandelier a later addition? They seem to be sitting too far down on the candlesticks. Perhaps a larger candelabra bulb would allow them to clip on and sit a bit higher?...See Morehelp with sideboard scale and color
Comments (11)thanks everyone so far. yes erinsean, i agree, i dont like the mirror or the plant. is there too much black in the room? i really only need to hold onto the chairs, i can return the table and sideboard so i am all ears for ideas. does anyone like this sideboard instead? https://www.cb2.com/trace-wire-mesh-cabinet-credenza/s492239 its only 6" wider but maybe if we take down the mirror (and get rid of the tree) it wont look so odd. or maybe just shelving instead of a sideboard altogether? i want it to be more modern, fresh, young. we are a young family with 2 little kids. i know the black chairs are super heavy so is there any way to lift it a little (if that makes sense)? sorry, i suck at design and am so grateful for everyone's help and opinions!...See MoreSideboard decor Help!
Comments (22)Your lovely room has almost no color. This may sound odd, but a rug in darker and more lively colors would ground this room and harmonize better with your dark floor, and also make the room look less cavernous in spite of the high ceiling. Some tall plants by the windows will also help to make the room dimensions more livable. Find a large painting that also has some warm colors in it to give your scheme more complexity than your monotone decor has now. A dining room should feel warm and welcoming, and a different rug (an Oriental would look great), appropriate painting and plants will accomplish that....See Moresideboard ideas
Comments (2)Why do think a sideboard is needed? I think the piece you have is too heavy, regardless of color. Consider instead a sofa table....See MoreRelated Professionals
