Has anyone here heard of cyterouliit?
Comments (1)I have not heard of it by that name. A few thoughts. Does it segment just like an orange? Is the fragrance just like an orange? What does it taste like? Have you seen a tree? What does the tree look like? What language is the word Cyterouliit from? Here is a site that has LOTS of citrus info. But, I have read almost everything on that site more than once and I don't remember one like this, with goo. I noticed in a similar thread you wrote in another place you mentioned trying to ship some here. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not do that. If it is a citrus or closely related, there could be disease that doesn't hurt that variety but could wipe out our citrus. California had this happen many years ago when Meyer lemon was brought in. That is why all Meyer lemon now is Improved Meyer, because it's been cleaned of the disease. It wiped out virtually the entire citrus industry in California back then. Florida is facing a problem right now that may be just as devastating....See MoreHas anyone heard of Roysol Flooring?
Comments (0)I am trying to find a flooring for my kitchen and am having a very difficult time. All of my downstairs will have Australian Cypress hardwood, but I don't want it in my kitchen because I have three young sons who will spill water on it, not clean up the spills, and destroy the floor. I don't want tile or slate, as it hurts my feet when I stand up for a long time (plus my boys will drop things like mayonnaise which will then break on the hard floor). I don't think I can handle vinyl, so I am nw looking at laminates (and still toying with the tile possibility). I don't like laminates too much either, but I found this style, which has some amazing colors- blue, green, magenta... which maybe I can find palatable. Does anyone know about the Roysol brand of floors? I think it is French, but am not sure. Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.roysol.com/english/index.htm...See MoreHas anyone heard from Velleen lately?
Comments (9)I think I remember her posting that. Too Bad...I know she loved the company she got from here... Maybe it is Card Shower time for them. If any of you still have your Christmas card list, I'm sure her address in on it. I'm going to go look now. Oh...and what is the price of stamps now? I'm not sure my book of stamps are the new ones. Didn't they just raise them another penny? I think I'll start a new post so others will see this. patti...See MoreWhat's the latest on citrus greening ?
Comments (19)Eh, give it a few more years and there won't be too many citrus trees left to destroy save for whats left of the commercial groves. Six months ago I asked about citrus greening in duval county (north florida) and how much of an issue it was considered and the response was something along the lines of yes its present but nothing to worry about. Last week I asked the same question and the response was "extremely widespread." I have a grapefruit and an orange in my backyard that must be 30 years old, they're huge. I find them to be fairly incredible because they tell me I'd need to do all this stuff if I wanted to plant citrus, water it, fertilize it, build it a little house in the winter, prune it so I can keep cold protecting it year after year etc. Those trees have been completely and totally ignored for at least 10 years. They sit out there covered in frost growing in sand that weeds dont even do well in and couldn't seem to care less. Total negligence has done absolutely nothing to threaten the fruit explosion that happens every December. My parents who live in NY have been calling me weekly since May asking if I can send them more grapefruits yet since they don't like pesticides and won't eat supermarket fruit anymore. (Unfortunately they apparently also don't understand growing seasons.) Last week I noticed yellowing on some of the leaves. I'm sure they have a ton of nutrient deficiencies but some of the yellowing appears to be not quite symmetrical so now I am afraid they are sick. And I am afraid to find out because if they are I'll need to take them down to protect the neighbors lemon tree which appears to be just as old and negligence tolerant. If they are sick, I don't even know how to tell my parents that I won't be sending them any more organic/wild grapefruit. These are the only three citrus trees I am aware of within several miles of me. (Jacksonville is a little bit on the cold side) If it's gotten to me, its everywhere. Only the commercial growers will still have trees sooner or later. Then there will be a lot less cats to herd...See Morejofus, ( Englewood, Fl zone 10a )
