It's already looking so much better! I'll wait for others to chime in regarding exact layout, but it seems to me you might need to create 2 separate zones in this room. What about putting the two wingback chairs by the fireplace, with that round (or is it octagonal?) table between them. This would be a nice, intimate conversation area, or reading spot. Then move the TV and lounge area to the other end of the room. I'd put the TV on the 13ft wall. This also might eliminate some glare from the window.

Thanks for your feedback! As of now I don’t have any specific furniture purchased but have been looking. My main goal is to utilize both “living” spaces in the most functional, aesthetic way possible. I don’t want a bunch of wasted floor space and I want it to be cohesive/flow well so it just doesn’t seem like a random desk placed in a large room. I also was curious as to whether the way the sofa/chairs are arranged works for this room or if something like a sectional would be appropriate. Or if rearranging where the sofa/chairs would work better in relation to the fireplace/TV. Would love to update the fireplace (planning on a new mantle for sure) and decor in general, and make it more like some of these living rooms from my idea books. My goal is to achieve a coastal-modern feel, with richer woods and navy versus pastels and driftwood. Thanks for the tip on providing measurements - I’m new to this kind of software so I was sort of trudging my way through it :) I will try to get more accurate measurements ASAP.

I'll second the articulating mount for above the fireplace. It's your best solution IMO. Pull it down to watch TV and push it back up when you're done. I have my tv over my fireplace and I've found it very comfortable to watch. But we have it mounted low and angled downward, and our seating area is ~14 feet back so the angle isn't at all uncomfortable. Without seeing a pic of your actual space with measurements (how deep is that living room?) it's hard to know if your seating area will be far enough back to be comfortable without an articulating mount - but I can promise you such a mount eliminates any potential problems.

What are your priorities? Is the room mainly for conversation or television viewing or listening to music? How many people need to be comfortably seated? Is it used at different times for different activities? When I was growing up I played the organ every day after school and sometimes in the evening when my parents entertained friends or neighbors. The organ was in the living room. There was a TV in that room, but it was mainly only turned on when the boys watched football or on a Sunday night when the kids gathered to watch Wild Kingdom and The Wonderful World of Disney. The family room, next to the kitchen was where my mom watched TV while sewing, cooking or doing crafts, folding laundry . . . The placement of the sofa in the family room was facing the TV. In the living room the seating was a conversation area - two sofas facing each other and 2 chairs facing the center of the two sofas. We laid on the floor to watch TV. Many people like to make the fireplace the focus, but I don't see the logic in this placement. A century or more ago people gathered around the fireplace to read aloud and talk and stay warm. Not the typical family activities in a modern family. Purpose of the room / activities should dictate the furniture placement.
