best clumping bamboo for narrow plantings
Comments (4)sorry. the space is narrow, ~3' wide. it is on the side of house where the utilities are located. so access is needed, but not like a formal walking path. i would like to plant bamboo but am wondering if the clumping bamboo will need all the space (width-wise) to provide an adequate hedge. my neighbor cut down our "mutual" vines and i have always liked bamboo's look. we had bamboo in the past in our backyard as a screen, but it was the run for your life variety. i would like to use clumping bamboo as a screen between houses. thanks...See MoreBamboo in a narrow area
Comments (8)I agree with Peggy here. Bamboo isn't your solution. It will die down in your zone. Besides bamboo is the world's largest grass and so it sheds its leaves in winter, hence you won't get the privacy you need. I have the same troubles you have. My neighbor's deck and window looks directly into my backyard. My solution was to erect a trellis. Just a large thick beams set set on posts. This plus a vine can block the view of your neighbor. There are many vines that will do the trick. The only thing though is the only evergreen vine I know is the euonymous but I don't think it can live in your zone. Try searching for vines that can develop wooden stems which can too provide privacy in winter. Avoid wisterias though which can be too aggressive. Comments (11)I don't think palms are going to work for you... I cannot think of any palms that will like full sun and will only grow 15' tall that don't sucker and grow into the neighbor's yard (or at least have fronds that won't scrape his boat). Nor can I think of any palms that would be affordable that you could plant in enough numbers... I am not even sure how you're going to plant in that narrow space. If you plant bamboo, which I think, too, is a good option, you will certainly need to plant a rhizome barrier or your relationship with your neighbor will deteriorate rapidly. but again, technically putting in rhizome barrier in that space looks difficult to say the least. I think a row of palms would look great, but anything affordable will grow well over 15' at some point or 'pester' your neighbors......See Morenarrow counter depth fridge, any alternative to fisher/paykel?
Comments (15)I have a different model Summit, and it's made in Denmark. It's 24" by 24" and about 80" tall. It's the model CP 171ss (stainless).. great refrigerator, made by Vestfrost. The freezer is at the bottom but it is not frost free. Because it has 2 compressors, I only have to defrost it maybe once a year. I noticed Summit has a couple new tall counter-depth refrigerators that are frost free. Including a 27" width.. If you scroll further down the page link you'll find those as well. Both bottom freezers- Model FFBF245SS and Model FFBF285SS I think these two are also made in Denmark by Vestfrost, but I'm not sure.. Summit told me a while back they were going to import a few newer models... Here is a link that might be useful: Summit refrigerators (imported?)...See Morerookb
