Comments (10)I have a micro fiber sofa and loveseat that I love. They promised me at the store that it was stain resistant. It was not. I used the fabric cleaner they supplied, and then used a hair dryer to carefully dry the area afterwards with mixed results. Then we got a new cat who thought it was fun to scratch the fabric with her claws. Charming. Meanwhile, the fabric, which was a light tan, was starting to get somewhat darker and dirty looking. I had to be careful not to leave newspaper on it because i was afraid it would transfer. The ultimate cleaning solution? I bought slipcovers, transferred the sofa and love seat to the kids gameroom upstairs, and brought down the very expensive leather furniture and chenille accent chairs to the living room. Why should they have the good furniture anyways? Since then I have not really visited the furniture. I really don't want to know if something has gotten dumped on it and gone through the slipcover!...See MoreWhich sofa fabric do you like?
Comments (52)Late to the party, but I'm liking the dark brown one. Your room is so spacious and open that I dontt think the darker color will overwhelm or weigh the room down. Did you fall in love with the sofa because of the color or in spite of it? Would you still love it if it you originally saw it in, say, eggplant LOL? The reason I'm asking is because you had mentioned that " There is still a part of me that wants to go with the lighter sofa since that's what I fell in love with. It's the practical side that's telling me to go with the brown." You have a pug. A pug that sheds no matter what (ask me how I know). And she probably occupies the sofa as frequently as you do. And hopefully she'll be around for a while ;o) The lighter color will be a bear to keep clean (ie. dirt) while the dark one will need constant attention with regard to vacuuming. But the darker one will look better for longer. It's a big purchase. Don't let the price of the fabric be the deciding factor unless the difference is enormous. Sit on it and wait for a few weeks, if possible, before making the purchase. We took almost a year deciding on the sectional we wanted and that's including the fabric and color. One piece of advice I can give you is to get a fabric that is "forgiving" when it comes to showing marks, pulls, etc. A textured chenille is a great fabric for hiding a multitude of sins. I can tell you what works for me and I can tell you what I like...and what I really like is your beautiful pug. She looks absolutely precious!...See MoreHave you seen something like this "mini sofa" -- in leather?
Comments (4)The Cordoba leather loveseat at Grandin Road may be a good size, and comes in several colors. I linked it below. Check the Oxford one also while there, but it's 3" longer than your current one. Also Google 'Sure Fit Stretch leather loveseat seat slipcover'.... Comments (18)I bought a Scotch Fur Fighter and it works like a dream! (We have 2 dogs and a cat in the house.) I haven't tried anything that worked as well on pet hair. Personally, I think a dense, good quality microfiber is an excellent choice for furniture that will sustain some use. (Will it become "dated"? Maybe. What doesn't?) As with all fabrics, some microfibers look horrible while others look marvelous. Our microfiber sofa, chair-and-a-half and ottoman are over two years old and still look new, and that's with considerable everyday use. (No, the animals aren't allowed on them.) I've been very happy with it, and I do tend to be picky about the look of my furnishings. Mine cleans very easily - I just run the upholstry attachment on my vacuum over it. We had one small coffee spill on it but I blotted and cleaned it quickly with upholstry cleaner - no spotting at all. I'm with dlm2000 on your sofas... I see nothing wrong with the CL sofa but it's very different from the one in your inspiration photo. If that's the one you love, I'd keep looking!...See MoreRelated Professionals
