Token gift idea for K girl?
Comments (19)ohhhhh.. you are talking much more token than I was thinking. I would not worry one bit about a pencil, stickers or cookies! These are things I'd give someone just for having a bad day LOL. Along this line, one of my favorite treats for the girls when they were young were smencils.. scented pencils. Perhaps too much for the kind of gifts you are talking but they make great stocking stuffers. I bought them for all the girls in the neighborhood one Christmas. They were a big hit with the under 12 age group!...See MoreWomen's Marchers----share your experiences
Comments (119)My boyfriend and I were with the 250,000 in NYC. We came from his house in Brooklyn, and the subway was jam-packed. Got off at Grand Central Station onto a very crowded 42nd Street and got swept into the crowd up 5th Avenue. 10 blocks away from Trump Tower it was impossible to move even on 6th and Madison Avenues & crowds spilled over onto Park as well – the entire mid-town of Manhattan was taken over. There were men and women of all ages, colors, languages and persuasions and everyone was polite, helpful and respectful. I didn’t see any anti-protests. When we had dinner on 2nd Avenue I was shocked to see on TV the lying press conference by Sean Spicer. It was so much like the dictatorships in 3rd-world countries when he said this was the biggest inaugural celebration in history, period, and that's how it must be reported. Wow. We must keep up the fight....See MoreDesigning Women, were you a Rowdy Girl or a Stand Around Girl?
Comments (9)I was a total tomboy from Day #1. Ran, swam, biked for miles, played neighborhood sports, etc. My dad was a bank vice president and total gentleman, but my mom’s grandfather and father had both been boxers in their younger, single days. And, as a result, they taught me how to defend myself, if ever necessary, starting at a young age (LOL!). And, yes, it came in handy on two occasions when I was still single, and I had to “deck” (use an uppercut punch to the jaw) guys who drank too much and thought to get a little too touchy or rough. Knocked them right off their feet, one into a pool. Anyhoo, I was the girl who’d pick up and rescue bugs, snakes, etc. I still do, so I guess that makes me a Rowdy Girl and proud of it. Because I had severe endometriosis ( and two surgeries for it) before I married DH, I was told I’d probably never be able to conceive. My dream had always been to be a mom. A fun one, but a good one, too. We adopted DS and I/we raised him to be a strong, thoughtful, good man. And he is. DD was my one and only pregnancy nine years later. I swore that I was going to raise her to be a strong, smart, kind woman who would never be somebody’s doormat , and a tomboy, too! And I (we) did. At just 25 y/o and getting ready to receive her Masters next week, I’m proud to say that my girl is definitely a Rowdy Woman, as well! Look out World!...See MoreShare your gift idea finds here 2019
Comments (187)robo, for your FIL, what about a t-shirt(s), hat, car sticker or water bottle from your area, his hometown, his service or university, something he can sport in FLA whilst jogging. And yes, I know this is the second time on this thread that I have mentioned this kind of regalia, because I feel your pain, thankfully we don't exchange with the outlaws anymore, but when we did, FIL, ugh, he loves presents, but asks for nothing, then is disappointed when his mind isn't read. Or a road atlas of Florida to look for interesting day trips/explore the area? A NS or CA flag to fly in Florida or a book on the history of their area of Florida. For my daughter, who is a 21 yo college senior and really into cooking, I've picked up a few things at Aldi, all for a song; crock pot, Staub-like pan, Ambiano stand mixer (got damn good review for $69.00 US) and a stock pot. The Aldi "Finds" are always interesting, and some good things interspersed with lots of made in China leggings and toys. So glad I only have dd and dh to buy for! We don't exchange with anyone else, and while some family members feel we are Scrooge personified, most don't, and I don't care anyway, the pursuit of gifts for people we see once every few years is crazy, and I'm much happier donating to our local food bank and no-kill animal shelter in place of those presents....See MoreRelated Professionals
