They could come back...some sp lay eggs, some are born directly from mother. Eggs are hidden in the white 'fluff' and they are very good in hiding. Treatment should e repeated after few days.

Rubbing alcohol should not harm plant or roots. Keep plant out of sunlight while treating with anything.

Thanks! I’ll literally be counting the hours to another spray. I can’t figure out whether I did the “right thing” by taking this plant, beheading and propagating it over just letting it live it’s life out, mealybug infestation and all. When I bought it, the seller tried convincing me it was really healthy, even though the soil was obviously forever-wet and it actually looked like it was struggling. I guess we’ll know in the next week or so! Hope the heads with the blooms will sprout roots ASAP so it can support its flowers a bit longer, I heard they die after blooming! I know, wishful thinking!

Hi Carol meallies will infest the center growth. You can usually tell when they've been in the center, even when they've been dealt with. The leaves grow out all wavy like.

Echeverias don't die after blooming. And mealies will certainly lay eggs in the crown of the plant. Just keep inspecting them and spraying with alcohol when needed. A small paintbrush dipped in alcohol is good for getting into nooks and crannies too. Rooting may be quicker if you take the blooms off, growing a root system and a bloom stalk is a lot of effort for a cutting..

Good morning! Thanks for the responses! I’m now realizing that I most likely misidentified my plant. At first glance online, and thought it might have been the peacockii, mostly due to the color and the blooms. but i think that the leaves are shaped differently. Maybe you guys can help me out! Just keep in mind that the crown is probably not as tightly packed as it should be.

Anothter realization- if I want the full scope of the internets’ help...I have to take BEFORE pictures. Didn’t take any but this is the process of cutting it down, although I’m pretty much done here. Those plants on the plate and box are the big stems that stretched out to well over a foot and weighed as much as my cat! There is about 125 leaves that have already been pulled and about 13-14 heads!

No roots - no water.

Do not overthink it...I am, again, reminding you not to spray directly on plant (I mentioned it on your other thread). As for watering, do not go by schedule (1x/day or so) but needs of plant. It all depends on what kind of mix you use, amount of light and temps plant is kept in.

It doesn't look like E. peacockii to me - and I am not judging by color of the leaves or growth, I know they vary according to conditions. BUT, post photo of blooms when they open.

Will go forward with your advice with listening to it’s needs. Gotcha...no roots, no water.

Once roots, form, spray soil lightly only when it gets dry and needs it.

I wish I had a good pic of the blooms before they kinda closed up, poor guys have been through a lot. This is a pic taken off the internet but very similar to what the flowers looks like, albeit not as bright. Pink flowers coming out of this silvery purple leaves.

Pls. don't be intimidated - I usually get to the point and do not believe saying things just to make reader feel good. There is lots of incorrect info on net, and when new (and even not so new), it could be difficult to know what is correct and what not so much. There are many blogs out there, some are terrific, but many are not and give haphazard advice. I appreciate anyone taking time to 'make a blog' - I would not spend the time - but info is often gathered from who-knows-what sources. We all are learning, all the times :)!

IMO, stem cuttings and 'leaves' require same care - neither has roots. If I may say so: you crammed too many leaves into that round container - while it is impossible to say how many will root, if many do - they get crowded too fast and you'll have to start repotting/potting them while too small. I usually leave them to grow bigger before handling: main reason is to get plants as strong as possible, not to damage fragile new roots, and also space! I wait often until mother leaf dries up and just about falls off. It's not really bad, just makes things bit easier on you.

Many leaves will start growing even just on a tray or piece of paper. Some may be fussier, but look at these (xGraptoveria 'Fred Ives') - and I am not even trying to grow more of them, have enough. But I knocked the pot while moving it and these good looking leaves broke off - should have put them on compost heap!

That’s definitely true, I want them to get stronger before I have to handle them, I’ll reduce the amount on the tray by half. I have so many leaves, I hope they take!
