Help me pick a grout color for my backsplash!

We're having a handyman install our kitchen back splash next Monday and I need to have a grout picked out. Trouble is, I'm afraid I will choose the wrong color. Here's the tile I chose and my kitchen. Our wall color is a beige. Our cabinets are honey maple and our granite is mostly brown.

One thing, the tile does not look as brown as in the product image. It is more taupe than brown.

Please any help is appreciated!

The actual tile in real life looks more taupe, like below:

are you really certain you want that horizontal mosaic with the granite in the first picture?

Pick a grout color that blends with the tile. It’s not that hard. But you might want to rethink your tile choice. You can always sell this on Craigslist. It is dark, and already looks dated, but if you love it, enjoy it.

Glass tile must be cut with a diamond blade. If your handyman doesn’t have one, don’t let him do the install.

Thanks for the feedback and compliments on the granite everyone. It sounds like all of you are on the same page and think I should wait. I am having a hard time figuring out how to make that happen. Our kitchen project is a remodel and we hired a general contractor to do the work. His crew does most of the work. Our project is scheduled to take six weeks. With the lead time on the tile, I can't wait until the cabinets and granite are installed and still have the backsplash completed as part of the project. Would you all still just wait? The pictures were taken in my current kitchen and the amount of lighting won't be changing. We live in a heavily shaded area and we have very little natural light in our kitchen even with windows along the back of the house. The amount of light wont be a lot different in the new kitchen. I know the piece of granite is just a small part of the slab but with some of the grey and tan tones in the floor tile I thought the smoke would work better overall. I think I am going to drive myself crazy with all of the decisions that have to be made before this project is over...

I think you made very nice choices in the end. I like the backsplash you picked, because as others posted about the glass.... it brings down the quality of the kitchen..... The flooring...I think it will work out fine. We are having the same problem. I actually like the wider plank but either would work. I do like the color you choose and it was my first choice....then it would have been a brown picked up in your original flooring. I hope you post pics when you are finished! Oh just as an afterthought....did anyone suggest you do the backsplash in the same countertop granite? That might have worked also, but it's a different look and maybe an outdated look also?....I think you chose a good product...bet it's gorgeous! Best wishes on it's completion!!!

prill- so excited to see your posts on the tile. I was busy this weekend working on the house. Here's my thought....paint the cabinets first. This was key for me. The simply white is fairly true white, but not stark. The creme Rixi is really creamy and I don't think it would look good for a whole bunch of creamy subway with whiter cabinets. As someone else pointed out, my counter has minimal veining...it's more variations of grey with a touch of white and green. In the photos I originally took the stone had just been oiled (with the oil/bees wax mixture). It's been in a month and I haven't oiled since. It's faded to more natural state. That being said, I like the Rixi with more natural state of my stone. So, also take that it consideration. I say do what you love...the backsplash is relatively easily changed in 10 years if you decide your tired of it. I love color, so I'm not as fond of the creme/white backsplash. Good luck...by the way, if you are putting in Flourscent lighting or your kitchen gets northern/eastern light, the Reef gets pretty blue. Mine gets a south/west natural light and Flourscent with the under cabinets.

I think it looks just fine as is. Are you getting rid of the short granite backsplash? Are you adding the mosaic tile on top of the granite backsplash or with it removed? I think it would look too busy either way. Even with the grout a matching color, which would be best, I really think it would look better if you did nothing. Money saved! If you bought the tile already, just return it. Sorry if this doesn’t help. :-(

Your tile has pinkish/purple undertones on my screen while your counter is yellow gold.

if that's true in real life than the colors could clash. Just my 2 cents

Sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else. I'm not feeling this tile at all. Everything is different shades of brown/tan. I would go with something much lighter & less busy. Pick out the lightest color in your granite & go with that.
