Comments (8)I am not finished decorating my girley office, but I will try to get some pictures this weekend. I have a traditional/bohemian theme and have focused on brown and turquoise. The main part of my office is my most cherished possession (my Dad's desk). It is from the 50's and I had it professionally refinished. I wanted to protect the top, so I put a pretty piece of fabric on it which I will eventually put some edging on. I use a baby blue leather desk set which is very feminine looking and think I got it at Target several years ago. This room does not have doors, but I am going to make a curtain from the same material as what is on the desk. The curtain will be pulled back to one side of the room so it would only be used when a guest needs it. There is also a mahogany stained wood/cane daybed and a Morris recliner from the 50's that I reupholstered. The thing that reduces the techno aspect in my office is that fabric on the desk...which you could put on your table and actually drape to the floor if you wanted to and even layer a lace cloth over the top which would give you that vintage or shabby chic look. The important consideration of your chair is that it is ergonomically correct for you. If it is, then get a nice throw that will match the fabric on your table and drape it over the back of the chair. Paint the area in a soft feminine color that you like to pull in the print on your fabric. Maybe a soft heather, pink or baby blue...what ever you like...don't be afraid to shout out that there is a female present...LOL. Place some favorite art on the walls, use a pastel colored desk set and some favorite decor items. A couple of lamps and a plant or two, candles, bowl of potpouri, maybe a cute area rug...you got it made!!! I have included some inspirational pictures here, so hope they will get your creative juices flowing. HAVE FUN!!!!...See MoreI would like to convert 24" x 24" closet for use in my home office
Comments (1)Lose the mini fridge if you really want to use the space. A couple of pictures of the space would be helpful 24” is not much roomto play with maybe check out Ikea for solutions this would be one way I guess to use that small space but once all the other stuff is in I am not sure where your printer would go. I also would like a door on it for a guest space since people snoop I have found....See MoreOffice in the house corner - please help with idea

Comments (16)Thank you so much to everyone for your input and sharing your time and expertise! @Silver Fox 88 - I like your idea of a big plant in each corner flanking the desk, good suggestion! Also you're right that I definitely need some wall art; I can't even begin to figure that out yet. ;) Can you explain why the desk is too close to the wall? I had assumed that it was good to be against the wall, which leaves the most open space in the rest of the room. (The windows behind the curtains overlook the garden, so I want the desk facing in that direction.) ------ @Jilly - thank you, I'm glad to know I'm off to a good start! :) The house was built in 1924, it's a center-hall Colonial. Thank you for the various picture selections, those are a great starting point, and I just learned that houzz shows you paint color names in photos, which is awesome. I don't have a fixed budget, but since we need to furnish the entire house, I'd like to keep my office relatively low-cost. Ideally not more than about $200-300 for the rug, say 100-200 for a filing cabinet, and honestly I have no idea how much paint costs yet. The rest of the house is some mid-century modern but from the actual mid-century (our dining room table is an heirloom from my grandparents), I also like traditional, new traditional ...? I like warm wood, bright colors, and plants! And, great suggestion on the visualizer features for rugs on Overstock, etc, thanks, I'll give that a try! ------ @housegal200 - Thanks for the pointer on how to balance a rug with the wall color, that's super helpful. Exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for! :)...See Morehavingfun
