my white marble master bath
Comments (23)I put the Hutton double vanity with carrera from RH in our MBA/dressing room, as part of a minor redo to put our house on the market. I too was worried about quality. We've had it a few months, no issues, looks really nice (I also copied RH for the size and placement and selection of tile backsplash, mirror and sconces). I will say that the drawers feel kind of cheap when you open and close. My suspicion is that it wont last as long high end vanities (but then the stuff that lasts forever just makes you feel bad when you ditch it for being out of date!). The RH Hutton is really well priced and looks great....See MoreToo many master bath finishes?
Comments (6)Hi. Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. Here's a little more detail and I will appreciate your further input: With black tiled shower floor/curb, white field tile and an accent picture frame design (trimmed in a black cornice with a small border of black glass tiles or something to that effect) located on the right empty shower wall (2 full tiled walls, 1/2 pony tiled wall/glass, one full wall of glass) do you think the black shower enclosure trim could still work and nix the wrought iron light fixtures? I was thinking since the glass shower enclosure is such an integral part of the shower (I'm not doing frameless) I could get away with blending the shower glass trim with the tile work. The shower controls and held held are 95% chrome 5% brass and the face plate is fairly large as it has two shower jets. The shower is roughly 4'x4'. I was hoping I could use the black glass trim so as to not highlight either the chrome or the brass. Yeah, I agree the wrought iron probably won't work....See Morefinished bathroom - sleek & modern master bath!
Comments (58)We used two of the lights - one over each sink. We did another bathroom in that house (we've since moved) - that bathroom was 5'x8', and we used one of the Artemide lights. It was plenty bright enough in there! We had the lights on a dimmer, which was really nice. Yes, our contractor built out a soffit above the medicine cabinets. It wasn't my first choice for how to do it, but it ended up looking really good. I wanted to recess the cabinets, but the Ikea ones are not made to do that, and the finish details were too complicated to make it work. So we decided on the soffit, which was much simpler. I wouldn't hesitate to do it the same way again....See MoreWhite Kitchen w/ walnut, 99% finished and lived in!
Comments (74)Rosegarden1 - yes! I didn't, but my husband did. They were great! susied3 - We didn't order the Boos from ebay - I don't remember seeing the size we needed. I do know that we ordered from whoever offered the best price + shipping :) The gallery wall was an idea I got from Pinterest. My husband was bummed that the giant stainless fridge doors weren't magnetic, while I was secretly relieved! It's the one space in the kitchen that's never cluttered. I picked up open backed frames at Michael's (on sale, of course) and tacked the back side of the binder clips to the back side of the frame, and then mounted the frames. The clips allow us to rotate out the art until I can file it. The door is something we picked up at a local shop already done. What a fun way to showcase your grandchildrens' art! The spice pullouts fronts are 5 3/4", the pullouts themselves are 5". The total island is 10'9"x4'2". With the wide legs, we had to find narrow counter stools, though I wouldn't have gone any wider because it's a reach for my short arms to wipe the counter now. Beekeeper I know exactly what you mean about the decision fatigue of building. My husband and I have both commented that we "eased into building" because the walls were in place. But it is really hard to enjoy the process when there are so many decisions to make. i.e. Doorknobs... something that would be fun to research on it's own. Pile it in with 600 other design decisions like closet lights, stair rails, light switches, outlets, and stinking drain hardware and it's exhausting. Godspeed on your new home!!!...See MorePipdog
