burn stain on white quartz countertop
Comments (44)I had a feeling it was Chinese. The Chinese use a different manufacturing method than the Breton Technology used by Cambria, Caesarstone, Silestone, and the other big manufacturers. When I bought my Pentalquartz, which is Breton-made in Vietnam, the warehouse manager told me that the owner of Pental, which is a big west coast granite company, went to China to see their manufacturing facility, and he wouldn't buy it. He said the resins are cured at lower temperatures for shorter time periods. So there's the cost-savings, but it's not as durable. I've read here of surface pitting with Chinese quartz. That's unheard of with Breton quartz. So now we see your water marks, which is ridiculous. I would have them take that junk out and buy a reliable brand of quartz myself. I'm saving your photo to show others what can happen when they buy Chinese. They never believe me that Chinese quartz can have problems. They just look at how pretty it is and how much money they save....See MoreWhite quartz counter tops - staining?
Comments (8)I have Pental lattice, it reads white but has some very fine caramel veins if you look up close. I have had it 2 months now so not long, but have not notice any staining and with moving in the the house and all I have not kept things as clean as I normally do and things have sat on it over night. I cleaned up some blueberry syrup that had dried on there. A smear of grape juice. My husband sat an aerosol can on it that had rust on the bottom and that came right up. So far so good....See MoreNeed recommendations for a sparkly white quartz countertop!
Comments (22)bonnie, not necessarily. I had my other granite for 15 years and didn't do anything to it. I could put hot pans on it, drop bowls on it, spill whatever on it,,,,nothing ever damaged it. I've had my quartz for 1 year, hit the corner w/the skillet, and dropped a ceramic bowl on it, both times it took out good sized chips. (which I'm getting repaired) It all depends on the type of granite you get. quartz however, will never be able to withstand the heat from pans and fire that granite can. And I suspect if you drop a dish on your granite, it's prob going to break the dish. (btw, my bowl didn't break, but it did a number on the edge of my countertop. )...See MoreWhite quartz countertop
Comments (7)Microwaves have been 24 inches wide for...................forever. A decent 1100 watt micro IS 24 inches and takes up far too much counter top real estate. Even an open shelf area of 24 inches is better and plenty of room if it should die. Sorry......but bet me the kitchen is not deserving of new tops, but with no picture? Hard to say with certainty : ) The casing on a microwave doesn't get hot......its cooking with molecules, and the reason high water content food heats faster. Use a trivet or pad on ANY surface except soapstone, with pots that do get hot....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
