Which chandelier?

I realize this is all very taste specific, but I'm going to lean on you all anyway.

New construction, so no photos of the space.

14x14 dining room. 10ft ceiling. I have a simple circle coffered ceiling thing planned.

I want an 8ft rectangular table, probably more the farmhouse style.

Chandelier should have symmetry that echoes square shape of room and the ability to cast a lot of light, but other than that I do not mind mixing and matching styles. I few chandeliers I am drawn to seem to be 36" vs conventional wisdom of 14+14=28" chandelier. Can that be overcome?

And, what do you think of these two options?

And, any LED lights that you think could kill it in this space?

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your feedback. I have decided on Soho - that's what my gut said, and most of you guys, too. I am posting my first mood board so you guys can let me know what you think. I have already ordered cabinets and lights. The granite will be chosen later, but I want it to be light with lots of movement with greys/taupe and some black. I love the delicatus that I have seen in showrooms, but I have had no luck finding it at the suppliers in this area. I have no idea what finish I should use on my cabinet hardware. I think I am going to use a handle or bar on both the top cabs and drawers. What do you guys think? I am using antique pewter hardware on the interior doors of the house, but there are not many doors in view of the kitchen area, so it doesn't have to match. The background color of the board is BM Revere Pewter... That is our paint color of tthe space. I would love any feedback you guys have!

kimmieb - those are both gorgeous chandeliers! Thanks so much for posting them. Unfortunately, I've already tried to convince DH and can't get him to buy off on anything this ornate. Also, I know they would definitely go with the style of the chairs and table, but I also have a mix of rustic iron and leather throughout the house (my love for early American and English antiques mixed with DH's fondness for the "Old West" has resulted in me aiming for "English hunting lodge") so I think I need to tie this look in to the shabby chic dining room somehow so everything flows. I can't use lanterns because I'm now wired for one center fixture and need more light, and I understand your comment regarding the last fixture maybe being too contemporary, which is perhaps why I've held off ordering it. I'd be getting the antique bronze finish, but it's hard not seeing it in person. The 8' ceiling height is limiting, but I do agree the size of the table needs something with mass. At the same time, I'd like to find an iron chandelier that's pretty and delicate, yet rustic. It's hard to find one that's not too massive, or Spanish, or Mediterranean, etc. Sigh . . . hopefully, one will come to me :-)

There are info pages on houzz that will give dimensions and advice on hanging a chandelier.....check them out, or try YouTube. My only clues are should be double the longest wall, in inches...if dining room is 12 feet long, the chandelier should be minimum twice that number but in inches.....second, is if ceiling is 8 feet, chandelier bottom should be between 30-36 inches above the table. For every additional foot go up three inches.....but correct Houzzers if i am amiss on this number.

No chandelier. There's no point having one in the family room at all. The dining room, maybe, but sometging along more traditional lines would suit the house better than the contemporary ones posted.

Will the whole style of the house be farmhouse or just the table?

I call it the beach house, but we live in Chicago suburbs. Deep blue hardie board exterior with extra wide white window trim and a front porch, lots of big windows and a second floor balcony looking over the backyard instead of the ocean, glass tile in the bathrooms in different shades of blue, mostly stained cabinetry except the white shaker style open kitchen. Cove molding, painted beams in the family room, circle coffered ceiling thing in the dining room and three paneled doors. White oak floors in a TBD medium stain. No farmhouse sink and no barn doors. No wainscoting. Not too formal. No marble or any other natural stone.

I have a memory of beautiful glossy finished picnic tables used in a casual dining room dating back before my time, which is the inspiration for the table.

Does that help? Ha. Maybe I just like to hear myself talk about my house :)
