thermostat 2 wires to 5 wires

i have a thermostat that receives 24 volts from the panel. when the temperature rise is needed, is closing and start circulation through the zone.

i want to change it with a Honeywell RTH9580 WI-FI, 5 wire one.

Not sure about the rewireing

I have two Honeywell Vision Pro thermostats that use the Redlink system to communicate wirelessly. There's an accompanying part called an Equipment Interface Module (EIM) that's mounted to a wall adjacent to your equipment. The 6 wire or however many connection your equipment needs is wired from the equipment to the EIM instead of being run to the thermostat. The EIM then communicates wirelessly to the thermostat, using Honeywell's Redlink radio frequencies and not using Wifi. You can use the 2 wire run for power only, or even mount the thermostat anywhere else because it will fun for months on battery power only.

The Vision Pro system, which is not the newest model line. offers full remote access over the internet with very easy to use apps for Android/Apple. Or, you can even access your thermostat from a PC or generic tablet using a browser. You can change the temperature setting, reprogram or set any or all of the setback times and temps, etc. I find it easier to change the schedule using a remote control than by standing at the thermostat.

It operates flawlessly without any glitches or problems. It has reset itself immediately after several power outages.

It may be the newer Wifi equipment, which I'm not familiar with, will also work with an EIM. The EIM was designed explicitly for situations where rewiring may be complicated or undesirable to do.

I climb up the attic open the door at furnace and find out there is a transformer that step down 120 v to 24 v . and two terminals at the second end (24v) red terminal is power 24v and the other terminal is use to connect to frame or chassis and serve as common ground so a c wire is any unused wire you can pick any color you want in the same bundle that goes from the furnace to the thermostat in my case those extra wires are trim flush to the bundle jacket on both end so I need to peel that jacket off about 2 inches on both end and connect a single wire about 2 foot long from the frame to the wire you selected (let say black) on the furnace end then the black wire on the thermostat end will be "C" wire and connect it to the "C" terminal on the new wifi fancy Honeywell or Nest. If I say anything wrong please correct me. I will do this at some other time. for now I just thinking. I signed up for smart (something) at gapower.com and they will sent me a nest gen.3 for free. I think this nest also will need "C" wire. I wait till I get the Nest then I will install both the Nest and the Honeywell at same time I will put the Nest down stair and Honeywell up stair.

I disagree with Petey (and with Bus). There is nothing wrong with the thermostat in this application. 410A would have been a better fit but all you're doing is leaving out the second pole on the 410B. You've wired it wrong, though for the life of me I can't think of how you did it. If you'd hooked up the wrong terminals it would be OFF all the time. I suspect you've somehow shorted the wires together separate from the thermostat itself. The color of the wiring isn't particularly obvious. I got it wrong myself (my dumb fault for not reading the instructions). There's not much to this device, the operation is purely mechanical which closes the two switches.

You have a special thermostat which operates with a controller. It uses two wires to control heating and cooling. You can't replace it with a standard 24V programmable thermostat without adding more wires. The version you have is non-programmable. There is a TH146-P-2H1C model which is the programmable ("N" versus "P" in the model number). However this comes with the control model which you already have. That's spending a lot of money for something you don't need. I suggest you call Honeywell and ask them if there is a programmable console (thermostat) you can buy that is compatible with your controller. I looked for one but I was not able to find it.

The back of the thermostat usually has a diagram of how the thermostat should be connected. Can you take a picture of the back? A picture of the front and the brand and model number will also be helpful. I think this thermostat is wired to a 220 V circuit, whereas your other baseboard heaters were wired to 120 V. If it is 220 V then connecting two line wires would cause a dead short and probably fry the wiring. Don't wire anything together until you determine exactly what you have. Is the office heater bigger than the others? If it is then that would explain the different wiring.
