My succulent looks sick what should I do?
Comments (6)I think it's an Aloe, too. But do go over to the Cacti & Succulent forum. You'll get some great advise there. IMO (and I've grown a lot of Aloes) I think your Aloe has been too wet and probably doesn't have much chance of being saved. By the time they've gotten to that point, I can't seem to save them. Since you've had it such a short time, it's likely it was overwatered where you got it. If it was at one of the box stores, you have to get them RIGHT when they come in or they're (usually) doomed... Sorry for the bad news. If you want a nice succulent, splurge and buy them online from someone reputable who knows how to care for them. It's worth a few extra $$ to get one grown right. Comments (8)A "few hours a day" is not "plenty of sun" by the standards of many cacti/succulents. People frequently make the mistaken assumption that because the light seems bright to their eyes that it must be bright by plant standards. As others have noted, your plants growth is saying otherwise. Just remember to harden it off gradually to much stronger --preferably outdoors-- lighting ....not unlike how a fair-skinned person needs to gradually expose themselves to strong sunlight after long cold winter if they wish to avoid serious sunburn....See MoreWhat to do for severely dry succulent
Comments (4)Is that E. Perle von Nurnberg? They tend to grow air roots even if happy :) I just leave them. IMO, adding soil to bury them all may not be the best - burying the stem much deeper is not recommended. PvN tend to grow long stems, and usually it is best to decapitate, rooting the rosette and leaving the stem to, hopefully, produce offsets. Many other succs will do the same. IMO, decapitating is not needed in your case. If my plant, and the soil is depleted, I would add some/repot. Then I would top dress with gravel....See MoreWhat's wrong with my succulents? Comments (3)Thanks for the feedback. What I meant was I water it once every two weeks until water drains from the three holes on the bottom. Just enough water until it drains. It's in a room with south facing Windows and also fluorescent grow lights for at least 6-7 hours a day but when there getting actual indirect sunlight I shut the lights off. Before I got the lights all my plants looked a little bad but they have all shown new growth since the lights. Except these two with the same problem....the soil is cactus soil with equal parts perlite. It is only indoors. And it gets no food.......See MoreKara 9b SF Bay Area CA
