After looking up Hampers with my friend online last night, I found out that several pretty ones I love that have more than one compartment seem to have also wood product in their design which I could have allergies to it. I really like the Seville Willow Hampers size, how light it is, how easy the top is to open and close, the fact it has no wood product in it other than the willow wicker, but I want it to be white. I can't buy the White Seville Willow Hampers since if they smell in the store and have been on display for awhile now, the outgassing of the polyurethane may not go away quick enough for me. I wonder if I can spray paint the brown ones myself with a product that would not bother my allergies? I may ask this question on the paint forum also. Hence, if anyone has one of these hampers in the natural or the white, could you let me know how easy it is to use (some of the other hampers tops are heavy to open and close.... that is one thing I love about my plastic hampers how light the tops are and that they stay open when I want them to), if they outgas, if you are happy you bought them, etc. Those with hampers with wood product in them, are they sealed well so no outgassing?

Re: the holes in clothing created by......? I've never seen such a collection of weird & wonderfully inventive stories! My new theory is that people are being paid to create these bizarre theories to protect the greedy stores who've created the problem. That's quite a fairytale the "bug guy" told you about carpet beetles. And to add insult to injury he CHARGED you for the story (you paid for fumigation)!? Wow - he must of laughed all the way to bank!!! Those would be pretty highly organized beetles - chewing holes only in cheap clothing purchased off of sale racks (mainly) from Walmart & SuperStore (in Canada) in my case!!! And in the same places (stomach area for women's clothing & usually the back waist area for men's). Maybe we should employ these beetles to do brain surgery also? And NO - I don't wear a belt. And NO I don't have granite counters. And NO it doesn't happen to any of my EXPENSIVE CLOTHING - EVER! And NO to every other crazy theory out there about washers/dryers/seatbelts and even miniature MARTIANS nibbling of belly skin cells that cling to inside of sale T-shirts once and for all!!! Hasn't anyone figured out how stupid all of these excuses are yet? It's simple: the stores want to get rid of the clothing: 1) price it dirt cheap 2) roll the sale rack into the back room and spray the items with a strong solution of an acid that is ONLY activated by washing, so after the first 6 to 12 washings the holes start to develop 3) make sure the area sprayed is in full view when worn so the garment can't be worn for long (no holes under arms, on sleeves, back necklines ever - but I'm sure there will now that it's been mentioned) This way they SQUEEZE the last nickel from the garment and make YOU HAVE to BUY more SOONER rather than later. If they didn't do this then they'd probably send the left overs off to a buyer of cheap, cheap clothing and receive even less $. Come on people - the world is run by the almighty dollar.

The uneven reducer is the best object for the job. It can handle 1/4" difference without issue. It should do the trick and if you get the stain right (check to see if the manufacturer makes an uneven t-moulding for your floor) no one should notice.

Mid Century Modern in the County sounds beautiful and refreshing! You are questioning the functionality of the space plan. Closets are a means of storage and by definition their primary function involves closing actions, ie we store things away after we’ve used them. If the storage area remains at the opening of the mudroom, the second and third members entering the room will have issues with access (especially during colder months when we tend to wear more layers) and the space will always feel cluttered and small because all the activity in congested in one area. If you re arrange the room placing the closet on the wall opposite the entry, it will open up the space to accommodate all 4 members plus an additional person when entering. Remote locations require more functional storage. By moving the closet to the wall opposite the entry you’ll add about 8 sqft in closet space. Whether there is a closet or hooks in your mudroom does not matter in terms of resale value, the square footage and its defined space is the value. I recommend the closet, as your family grows the added storage will help manage growing interest and transitional moments, it will add personal value. You are an individual your home should be designed to provide aspects of your individual needs. I would not remove the front entrances; every entrance serves an important purpose which helps your family interact comfortably with your home. Based on the information you’ve provided, your children use the side door to safely enter the home, comfortably remove outerwear and seamlessly proceed to homework. Your family enters your home safely protected from the elements via your garage. Only your family and friends know where the main entrance to your home is, which adds to your security. -Alley
