Do la cantina doors look good with standard height doors of 6'8"?

Our city is giving us a hard time with raising our roof and so we will have to be content with 8 ft ceilings on our back wall. We were hoping to get the ceiling to 9ft originally and wanted the la cantina doors 8 ft tall and 12 ft wide. Now I am not sure. Do these doors look good with doors that are only 6'8" tall? The width will still be 12'. What do you think? Any suggestions or advise appreciated. If you have seen any at the standard door height and felt it still looked good, please do let me know. TIA.

This room has a standard 8' plate height. The door height is 6'-8" and the width is just shy of 15'-0". Our clients love it. There's a opaque shade that pulls all the way across from one side, and the other side has a one piece screen that can also slide over the entire expanse of the door. It's a great product! Thanks for the follow-up. I still could engineer it for a steel header but I will have to do it by hand since the software I have only does wood/engineered products. I will look into it though and see if I can remember how to do that. I should have added that the wall construction is ICF so I guess I could actually just design a lintel out of concrete. It just seems like it would be easier to use an engineered beam. Also, FWIW the Nana Wall site specifies the lesser of L/720 or 1/4" deflection for the minimum header over their doors. I can't assume that the same would work for La Cantina doors but I am guessing it would be a pretty safe number to use. Any 'good' options for closets with 9' ceilings and standard 6' doors?

I have this problem too. I had 30"x30" closets, then after remodeling they became 52"x24" closets. Overall it's an improvement, but definitely the top shelves are less useful than before--can't get anything too deep up there. If I did it over again, I would have at least gotten a cost estimate for doing like a built-in wardrobe, but I don't think that's the kind of solution you want at this point either. I did buy a closet solution from Easy Closets and placed the rod pretty high, which leaves more useful storage on the bottom. Above the door I have shelves with some plastic storage containers--I'm still putting things away so it's not too packed yet.

If you have the budget for your "dreams", go for it. If not, Stay with the Tuscany theme. You can mix a stacking door in but not sure a black door would work with your other white Tuscany doors.

Since your windows are at the lower elevation I would definitely keep the transom. It's about maintaining a consistent and human proportion and maintaining that top of window datum line. Otherwise the front door appears to be dwarfing the rest of your front facade. We have a single 7'-8" tall door on our house but the windows in the rooms on either side have windows which are set just as high.

Hello, Jen! We used a shade by Centor, in the colorway "Stone." They have opaque (minimal or no light passage) and translucent (some light passage) options. Attached is a comparison of Stone with the opaque and translucent options! You can see the color of the shade itself is very similar with only indoor light for both options.
