Windows Remodeling Design Dilemma

Milgard Aluminium Casement Windows?

I am redoing my mid century modern home in southern California and am considering Milgard casement windows in dark anodized aluminium. I haven't been able to see one in person but I have some concerns about the bulky hardware. Does anyone have any interior photos? or know if you can upgrade to a folding handle? or what the locking mechanisms look like and if there are upgrades?

The casement would be beside a picture window and I am looking for a sleek modern window.

Jeld-Wen windows seem to be my only other reasonably priced option and i find their profile to think and chunky for mid-century (and really a more modern option).

Any advice or suggestions?

I would definitely see one in person. Most manufacturers have what is called a "dealer locator". I would contact one and let them know what you want to see to make sure you are not wasting your time going there.

You can also stop by one of our showrooms in California at one of our plants. Where are you located in California?

That happened to us and the sensors were huge and interfered with the window operation. We were horrified by the drilling but it is what it is. They had to come back and remove the sensors and put in the smaller ones they actually make for casement windows. We used ADT.

Being as Ram is probably a regional window and Milgard is a better than average large brand all things being equal I would probably go with the Milgard.

Get a zero mullion strip. If the window is equip with an accessory groove on the interior and exterior, a zero mull is basically invisible as it directly joins the two windows across a thin line.

What other options are available to you? Are you supplying or is that a developer package and only certain brands are available? Neither of those are considered a quality window.
