Design Dilemma Remodeling Flooring

I am trying to figure out what should I do with my floors as I update the house for a future sale. Right now we have carpet in the living area and stairs, and tile in the kitchen. We wanted solid hardwood initially, but the subfloor is light concrete so we can't glue or nail anything to it. If we install plywood subfloor the end result will be too tall.
So the solution would be a floating engineered floor, but not sure if it should be a glued one or a click and lock.
I am attracted to the idea of the click and lock as I can do it myself (at least I can try), but I read that it might squeak when you step on it?
Also how much does it matter the lenght of the boards? Should I look for boards longer than a certain size? Because I saw some click and lock brands only have boards of max 46 inches..

I just did some click and lock for my sister. It's nearly foolproof, but follow the manufacturer's instructions to the letter, please.

I am afraid that if I do the floating floor it will sound and feel like a laminate. Is there my way to prevent that?

We went with a different product from Mannington. Adura Max, Aspen Alpine and Lakeview Rapid. Bought it online at 3.09/sqft shipping and tax included. To be installed next week. I thought the Costco product was almost as high quality. But I missed the sale and would have had to get the product from a few different stores as none had enough in stock. Shipping was expensive if I went that route. No one was sure if they getting more in stock and parts like stair treads weren’t available. I also couldn’t get as detailed specs as I could for Adura. So I paid a little more for one if the more popular brands. If I only needed a few hundred sqft or was only doing one room, I’d have no problem with the Costco brand.

I have to live there so least amount of work isn't my biggest concern. lol No one around here currently has any 5/8" underlayment available. So my two options to match the 5/8" underlayment in the living room is either 5/8 cdx or 5/8 advantech. The advantec is t&g. I am pretty sure I will be doing hardwood or similar nail down flooring. I am looking for the best final result without ripping up anymore subfloor. I can't add felt between subfloor and underlayment unless I rip up the 5/8 underlayment in the living room.

You already said that you can't glue down -- is that really true?

I have a floating floor over cement and it's been fine, but I did have it laid by professionals.

If I would have cement I would be fine. But I have light cement, or gypsum cement, which is not strong enough for glue...
