First order arrived! ARE
Comments (39)My order just came in yesterday. Two huge boxes from ARE. My hubby didn't say a thing! LOL. The way I see it is that 1. I work, so I can buy whatever I want. and 2. I never say anything about his ever expanding Batman collection. LOL. Anyway, I can't wait to unbox everything. So exciting! This is my first order from ARE. It's cold here and we are expecting snow on Sunday. Major bummer. For now, I'll just water the plants and leave them in our small greenhouse (on the floor, away from direct sun). I also have my 3 roses from Palatine. Those will get potted and also, placed on the floor for now, away from the sun. Once everything leafs out, they will get placed on the benches in sun....See MoreBelinda's Blush
Comments (27)BD is definitely low thorn. Interesting how a sport can switch to be no thorn. I need to start in on my Madame Alfred Carriere. I am thinking of doing the bending down and tying like Jenny Barnes shows on her niff_barnes Instagram account....See MorePerle d’Or failing. High salinity?
Comments (9)I too remember having the yellow veins in green leaves thing, years ago in a former garden, and that every reference I could find just banged on about chlorosis with green veins in yellowing leaves - ie the opposite. But I could not remember what if anything we eventually came up with as a diagnosis/ cure. I just did a little 'digging' and came up with this (edited version): Iron deficiency is often confused with oxygen deficiency; however, the symptoms of these deficiencies are actually the opposite of one another. With iron deficiency, the leaves show you there is a problem. The main structure of the leaves turn yellow while the main veins of the leaves remain green. The yellowing of the leaves is known as chlorosis. With oxygen deficiency, the leaves will also show us there is a problem. However, with oxygen deficient plants, the main veins of the leaves turn yellow or show the signs of chlorosis first, then the yellowing will spread to the main leaf structure. Oxygen deficiency is basically the lack of air to the root system, which occurs with over-watering or poor soil drainage. It is important to be able to recognise the difference so that proper treatment action can be taken. Oxygen deficiency can usually be corrected by monitoring watering of our gardens better, aerating the soil or taking steps to improve the overall soil drainage. So, I'm thinking this looks like it could be some sort of drainage or over-watering problem, causing oxygen deficiency - perhaps a very localised issue under Perle d'Or? If it's not a straightforward too much watering issue, maybe there could be some rocks/lumps of clay/or a projection of concrete from the house foundations, causing water to pool there?...See MoreRoses with Rugosa background?
Comments (4)Thank you for that fast reply! I hadn't meant to put her on the list. I did know she was a rugosa! I appreciate you letting me know about that one....See MoreRelated Professionals
