Comments (8)The plants in self-watering containers and in 5-gallon grow bags are both exhibiting the leaf roll. However, I do have 2 5-gallon grow bags that have plants in partial shade which do not exhibit leaf roll and are just as big, if not bigger, than those in the self-watering containers. I'm thinking the leaf roll may be root stress related. Either the 5-gallon containers/bags have become too small, the container gets too hot thus stressing the roots, or the potting soil has finally compacted and isn't delivering enough oxygen to the roots. I have tomato plants in raised beds as well and I haven't noticed any leaf roll with them. I have noticed a few had yellowing leaves w/brown spots (3rd picture), however....See MoreAdvice re: brown spots & yellow leaf on new Kentia Palm
Comments (3)Hi malicitator, sorry to pester you so long after you first posted this. We have a Kentia, too, and it seems to have exactly the same problem as yours: very similar spots on some of the fronds and yellowing (with brown spots) of one of the small leaves. In addition, our plant has a couple of developing fronds that seem healthy, but have stopped growing. The height of the shoots has not increased in weeks or months, and they show no signs of opening, either. Did you ever find out what was wrong with your plant, and, if so, did you manage to fix it? Many thanks!...See MoreBrown-orange spots on leafs & difformed leafs
Comments (5)I don't see the orange either. I do see the brown spots which are quite indicative of Rust appearing on the bottom sides of the leaves. I have generally had good success with Neem oil. I buy the concentrate at 70% solution and mix 1 oz per gallon. Off the top of my head that would be a bit higher than the .5% concentration you stated but not decisively higher. If its older damaged leaves falling off and I still had rust I would continue treatments using all recommended precautions (not doing it in full sun, etc.) until the rust was gone....See MoreMonstera Deliciosa browning/yellowing on new growth- help!
Comments (5)Yes green balls are fertilizer. you said no repots, so Im guessing plant is still in its original store soil. Those are usually way too water retentive. A lot of people on here either use Al’s 5-1-1 mix for tropical or soil mixed 50% w/ 50% sifted perlite or pumice. 5-1-1 has 5 parts pine or fir bark, 1 pt. Sifted, coarse-grade perlite & 1 part peat. The issue w/ your Monstera looks like bacterial leaf spot from too wet soil, but I could be mistaken.. others on here may be better at diagnosing. These grow under trees & climb their trunks like a vine in the wild, south of the equator. Your water & sun accommodations sound good, as long as you keep it where it’s at, that light would be similar to what it wants, which is part shade....See MoreDave
