Help with re-design of split level front entry
Comments (4)An architect would be a good idea. You may be able to extend the roofline from the upper story toward the front door, acting as a porch roof. Then build a wider porch, perhaps using the bricks you'll remove from the planter. An arborist can help with identifying the trees that would best be removed. Will this be your personal residence or will you be selling when finished with the remodel?...See MoreNeed ideas on changing front elevation of 1959 split level
Comments (11)That's what we want to see ... things that need changing. In terms of developing the house facade presentation, what is more important to you, your family and guests ... that the house, and especially the entrance, look welcoming ... or that when packages are delivered, there happens to already exist a way to screen them using otherwise ill-placed foliage? "Would love to change that front stoop area. Is this a design job for an architect or a landscape designer?" What kind of change are you talking about? All I can see that it's screaming for is a corner post or column to replace the planter, and for all the shrubs to go away. The walk, which could be wider, needs to extend the full wide of the porch. So far, these things are a job for a handyman. There's are significant portions, the left and right of the yard that don't show up in the first picture. Could you add them? To take them, stand at the same place the first pic was taken so they will all fit together in the end....See MoreSplit Level Exterior Help! Need Advice!
Comments (19)Just remove the shutters and see how that looks. I don't think painting windows with black is going to enhance the house--just adds another element and you do have a brown roof, not black. A much warmer white for the middle would work better with yellow stone and brown roof. Save $$$ for a beautiful landscape design to further beautify the house. But what you have is pretty nice right now. It's important in a newly purchased house to go a year before making landscaping changes so you can see how the plantings look in all seasons. It's great you have quite a few evergreens for year round color--and no leaves to rake!...See MoreExterior Split Level Help!
Comments (5)IMO the siding color is all wrong with the brick and no to painting the brick. Do you mean you are adding to this house or plannng on building a new bigger home. I like this color with brick and I do not think this house suits a front porch. But some better landscaping for sure .Not sure waht is going on with Houzz this AM but it won't let me add a picture but the color is a nice grayed green that really compliments the brick I never like grays or blues with brick...See MoreMary
