Thanks everyone, I found a paint online that is actually weather proof if you bake it. Just gotta find it again forgot to book mark it. I will attach a link when I find it. Shellybelly darn when I moved back from Pa I gave away about 50 things with sunflowers on them from dishes to crockery, would have mailed it to you. Pea I have about 400 8x8 grey tiles, left over from tiling my house in '88. believe that!!! I was going to send to dump, but hate to throw them away. When my son tiled his apt, he had 6 boxes of 16x16 white, so I am going to use them up. gin_gin, the first set I do I am putting in partial shade and planting artillery fern in the holes so it cascades out over the block, I don't like to see a 'wall effect' I want it softer so I don't think the sun will be affecting these. I have the Ivoire formula for Emerald matte on the can and it is correct according to the official recipe for Ivoire paint in a gallon (double checked). The base paint is correct too. But the gallon colour does not even resemble the paint chip or the Color-to-Go. When I discuss the mismatch gallon, I'm directly comparing the paint they gave me spread on the paint chip - and the gallon Ivore was not even close to the same colour as the paint chip. Quite truthfully, it is like a lighter version of Believable Buff - I'd accept it as a match for Believable Buff before I'd accept it as a match for Ivoire!! In terms of how the real Ivoire looks on my walls (the paint chip/Colour-To-Go version, not the mismatched gallon paint), I have painted Ivoire on a lot of test walls, so I have a good feel for how it appears in my house - yellow with apricot undertones and I absolutely love it. This faulty Ivoire looks like a kind of muddy/murky beige-yellow - not the same colour at all. I was flabbergasted when the gallon of Ivoire looked like an entirely different dingy beige colour - even the guy who mixed it thought it did not seem correct but he wanted me to take it home and see how it looked at home in the lighting it would be in.

It's really easy to rub stain into a scratch on a wood door and make it hardly noticeable. I decided against paint for my new kitchen without any children (much less five under five!) and no animals, because I knew there would be scratches and I knew I wouldn't like the resulting "patina". You can paint out scratches a bit, but it's hard with a factory paint job. Factory paint is more durable than brushed paint, but brushed paint is easier to "fix". So... how much do you like the white vs. how much do you hate bumps and scratches? Would you ever consider something as unstylish as melamine? As expensive as lacquer? Do you expect to move or redo your kitchen by the time your kids are in their teens? Or when they're out of the house? Or do you expect this kitchen to survive their childhood?

If you're updating your trim color, white I would gather, I would keep them the same color. If your trim paint is also looking faded or worn, freshly painted risers will likely make that standout more. I would gauge whether you need to paint all woodwork after the risers are painted.
