Nice! I'm currently awaiting 8 Modin samples to replace carpeting in living/dining area and master br. What was your subfloor? and did it require a lot of prep work?

My subfloor is slab on grade. The original flooring throughout the entire house was VCT 8"x8" squares which we had carpeted over years ago. I just removed the carpet and pad, did some minimal patching to smooth out the areas where the tile was damaged, and installed the Modin directly on the tile. The Flooret installation sheet says no underlayment is necessary and since our home is 55 years old with no moisture problems, I didn't think it necessary to use a moisture barrier. The planks are about 1/4" thick so they will hide minor imperfections but it IS vinyl so it will show some through. The fact that the surface is not glossy helps to minimize any unevenness.

Hi Tommy, I just ordered some samples of the newer rigid vinyl. My husband is not crazy about the size/depth of the bevel when snapped together. Opinions on this?

I am not familiar with the new rigid vinyl line. The Modin Idyllwild is beveled, but leaves virtually no valleys between planks when snapped together. This is one reason we chose the Idyllwild, as the multicolored planks show the distinction. What is your husband's concern?

tommy deg how do you like your floors now? I am trying to do LVP and hear horror stories about the footprints and cleanability and just came across Modin, waiting for samples but not much feedback on how they perform once in the home in terms of not looking hazy etc. Greatly appreciate any advise you have.

The Modin line has a woodgrain surface texture, so is not glossy. We just use a dustmop for normal sweeping, and water with a little vinegar for mopping. Our floor looks the same now as when we first installed it.

Hi Karen, I had the rigid plank Modin (Kingswood) installed 2 months ago in master br and hallway leading to main bath and br. I have not had any problem with footprints/shoe prints/dog prints. These 2 areas also get a lot of afternoon sunlight, so any mark or smudge would be very noticeable, but there hasn't been anything.....other than a bit of 'dust'. I use a stick vac and/or damp dustmop. If you haven't read them yet, there are several other discussions here on Houzz re: Flooret and Modin floors. Good luck with your decision, I'm very happy with mine!
