what should I do with this outdated stone fireplace?
Comments (7)Agree with all above. Beams are great but maybe lightening up the colors of the beams or possibly changing the colors on your walls. Would definitely consider Sina's suggestions of a good cleaning on the stones and that should help. Maybe afterwards adding flat stones or simple slab on the hearth will help too. Good luck....See MoreHelp updating outdated fireplace (DIY)
Comments (5)You can paint ceramic tile. Lots of DIYs and you tube instructions available. As always, preparation is the key. It just depends on the look you want. https://www.hgtv.com/design/decorating/color/can-paint-ceramic-floor-tile...See Moreis my fireplace outdated?
Comments (4)Overall I think you want to draw attention away from the TV screen and move the eye to other areas of the room. So it would be helpful to see the whole wall. It would also give is some clues to your decor style. You could somewhat de-emphasize the TV by painting the section of wall behind it a much darker version of the wall colour. Then it would blend in better when it was turned off. LOL that particular image on the TV is ghastly! An easy fix is to remove all the decor items from the mantle. Draw the eye down and away from the TV by painting the fireplace screen a lighter colour. Maybe a cream colour, with an antique look by rubbing some of the paint off. I would move the wrought iron wall sconces away from the TV area. Or if you really like them there, consider painting them a lighter colour to help them blend in better. Would the candles look better at half their size? To me they seem too tall. Depending on what's happening with the rest of the wall, you could add some decor item(s) sitting on the floor at the sides of the fireplace, again to draw the eye away from the TV....See MorePlease help me with this HUGE Fireplace!
Comments (8)This is exactly what I have except not 20' tall I thought I would hate it and now my fave in the house we used the back for the kitchen I love the juxtaposition of the very contemporary with the stone. I love your FP but not with those wood walls , The bottom pic here is my LR on the FP side....See Morekambino2003
