Rug/shelving and decor help needed (lots of pix)
Comments (1)-Valences could go above the doors. Either at a typical height or else positioned a bit higher so that the bottom on the valence only just reaches the top of the door/windows (and both permitting the view of the outside and making the window look bigger) - You could put curtains in between the window/door sections (as though they were curtaining off more window, but really just curtaining off wall). you would need them at the far end also, and would likely need to use smaller supports. You could probably use the curtains you have there now if you loosened the tie at the top of them so that they hang like regular curtains against the wall. -The bookshelves stick out a bit. Perhaps if you painted them to match the floor?...See MoreNeed recommendation for a rug and wall decor!

Also make sure TV is mounted at proper height for watching when seated...See Moreneed wall decor ideas for foyer staircase wall
Comments (5)HI -- I do not like houses that have these large open useless spaces . This is always a problem for noise and how to paint them and how to decorate . You would have to hire painters and the use of scaffolding and the high cost to do so and to maintain. That wasted square footage could be better used in the upstairs living areas . You could have some applied moldings in a square pattern or wallpaper for interest , or quilted fabric panels but some does not help with the sound . Tapestries or rugs or soft wall hangings helps a bit... as for a large painting that can be home made or the affect done with a wallpaper mural or a hired Artist . Maybe in the future consider having some of the area built in for useable square footage . That will add better value to the house ....See MoreRelated Professionals
