July 2015 blooms
Comments (77)Will do! :-) and my thoughts exactly!!! D. barnimiana's flower is about to flip up to the correct orientation today; they start with the head down and the stem first to burrow through any dirt above. Speaking of buds opening, here's Stapelia cedrimontana, a very hard plant to grow in FL, because it doesn't like too much heat or humidity. I've actually had to remove a few stems from this plant in the past few days, some of them are yellowing and dying off, probably from the intense heat and 82 deg/ 100% humidity nights... but the flowers are going strong! :-)...See MorePls. help me find this plant
Comments (21)Wow you hit mine right on so if you happen to see one somewhere please send me the location & all info and I will buy it. The seeds of the monkey tail are now on a damp paper towel inside a plastic bag to get them to start rooting. I have serious doubt they are going to do that. I truly loved my plant more than any of the others (and I have many). I made wallet sized pictures to carry in my purse so when I was in a nursery I could show them but no luck. Thank you for a least coroberating my original post as no one else has done it....See MoreDoes anyone know how to root a 'Monkey's Tail' cactus?
Comments (10)Hi Karen I use lots of fertilizer on mines..I use Foliage Pro and Neptunes Harvest and it has been cut back twice..How funny is that the same pot? That is just weird. Great minds think a like) It's hard to explain my 100 year old one..I let it dry out too much the past week and and its leaves and flowers dried off. Ugh. Did not know the sun was that hot in a south window in December. I always underestimate the suns strength and get lazy about watering at times..I will take a pic once it's up in bloom again which should not take too long. I can share a cutting or two with you on this one too. Yes, I agree, spring sounds like a good idea. Just remind me about that time and I will send them when you do. In the mean time take good care of yourself and keep posting your pretty plants too. Did that San's you water rooted ever grow for you? Thanks for your kind words, it means much since you have taught me much. Mike...See MoreJuly 2019 Blooms
Comments (113)I am extremely happy to share pictures of Selenicereus validus flower no 4 which had opened fully this morning, with a lovely gentle vanilla fragrance to match its colour(so yes, I was rightfully disappointed last week with the first 3 flowers.) The plant can stay now :-)...See More- 6 years ago
