What are your plans with that giant mirror wall? It's not going to stay, now is it? I'm all for light and a big mirror, but this has a dressing room feel to it.

To me beach cottage design has more natural materials in it. It looks too modern now with too many hard edges. Maybe you can replace the giant mirror wall with broad whitewashed wooden planks, horizontally placed? Maybe have the same kind of wood on that piece of wall facing the sofa?

I understand your feelings regarding the floor. Big rugs will help a lot. Your choice of material for the rugs seems fine. Am not sure about the stripes though. It might be too different from the flooring and as such compete, instead of complete.

For the walls I'd choose a sandy tone of white, which is a very light greige.

Maybe add some driftwood art, a beautiful big poster of the see to stare at and some beach stone elements.

I'd keep my furnishings all in that not too smooth look. If going for a chandelier, my advice is to pick a robust one.

Some turquoise accents might look nice here, liven things up a bit, but don't overdo it. If you like more of it, you'd better make a real statement as in part of a wall in a stained turquoise or table legs or a table top in a stained turquoise. Instead of little tidbits of turquoise strewn all over the place, robbing the tranquil feel of the place.

I'm afraid the present kitchen will stand out a bit, being so shiny. Maybe that's a project for later on?
