Is it okay if we only put hardwood floors in our master?

My husband and I bought our first home about 2 years ago. Being 1st time homeowners, we've now realized that there are some things we would've done differently - like splurged for hardwood floors throughout our entire home. We have hardwood floors downstairs, but opted for carpet on the stairs, upstairs hallway and all of the bedrooms. Ideally we would like to replace all the carpet with hardwood, but we're thinking that maybe we would just start with our master bedroom, because we spend most of our time in this room (our dog included). We've just started the search for a reasonable quote. But if that doesn't work out, I'd like your opinions, in terms of re-sale and/or appeal:
1. Is it off-putting to only have hardwoods in the master bedroom (this we'd feel comfortable doing ourselves)?
2. What about hardwood in all of the rooms, but keep the carpet on the stairs and the hallway?
3. Should we just go for it and replace all the carpet, because we'll get the money back in resale value?
