Best way to root chrysanthemums ?

I obtained some cuttings from some chrysanthemums that are not the usual cushion types. Around here that’s all I ever see in stores. A spider, a spoon, and a tiny one with a little petals and a large yellow center. So, I assume not hardy.

I tried to choose non-flowering tips but even the smallest had a couple of buds. Also being careful not to spoil the shape of her plants. She was growing them outdoors.

My plan – tell me if this will work - would be to grow them as houseplants for the winter, then place them outdoors during the summer.

I plunked the cuttings into water when I got home.

What should I do next?

Rooting hormone, then stick stem in moist potting mix?

Cover with a bag to retain humidity?

Keep indoors? Or out, while it is still warm (ish)? Night temps are in 60’s, day temps in 70’s. Chicago area, zone 5.

Thanks for your help.
