New Photo - Dark Beige or Tan Paint Recommendations Pls
Comments (12)On our first floor we have several colors that repeat in different combinations in different rooms, and the warm neutral we used for continuity throughout was Cracker Bitz (which I think was from Pittsburgh, but I also find it listed with Olympic, so maybe they are the same company?). In some rooms it's the main wall color with a different accent wall, ceiling color, or accent between the plate rail and picture rail. In other rooms Cracker Bitz the accent color on one wall. It looks great with Lion's Mane of the same brand -- like they are just different values of the same color -- and the very orange Copper Penny. It also looks great next to a cooler color for contrast -- in one room it's a sagey green, in another a washed-out robin's egg blue. Anyway, I was surprised, because to me the color on its own is kind of a blah neutral beige, but it reads very warm and almost yellow, or lighter like parchment depending on the other colors around it and the lighting in the room. It's our go-to versatile color now. Good luck and have fun!...See MoreHow to decide between light and airy vs. dark and cozy for living room
Comments (31)Thanks, Monica. : ). Your room looks so homey, and very much like normal life around here. ; ) I was picturing a wall color more like your orange- rust colored pillow when I heard burnished pumpkin. Aimee, it could be partly a function of climate, which might be why I find this to be a challenging decision! That's very interesting that you find cozy colors to be more intimate. I find that appealing, rather than off-putting, but we seldom have "strangers" in our home, and if they are here, I usually want to help them feel welcome and as much a part of the family as possible. Annie, can I come over and stay at your house and see what it's like to live in warm and cozy for a week? : ). I've seen a few pictures of your home, and it looks very warm and inviting. Thanks Lisa. Yes, the little blue library is off our kitchen. The kitchen can just be seen to the right of it. The doorway to the living room is between the library (errr, the bathroom, to be more specific) and the kitchen. Could we possibly get away with a color like this in the living room? This was my absolute favorite room at the home show this year. It's a dark bluish green....See Moreneutral beige paint color suggestions!
Comments (55)Choosing a paint color from someone else's photo is really not easy since lighting is so tricky in photos. This is still a work in progress. Top photo is Natural Linen wall with SW Pure White woodwork. In my photo it looks to have a pinky cast; this isn't the case in person. The wall with the samples is SW Natural Linen on upper left, SW Divine White lower left, and SW Nacre (definitely has a greenish cast) on the right. I was also looking for another shade just a tad lighter than the Natural Linen, and Divine White (obviously, not at all a white) is perfect....See MoreAny beige paint suggestions for my living/dining/kitchen space?
Comments (8)Again thank you all for the suggestions. I am now leaning toward a warm white vs. a beige! Out of 12 samples (mostly beiges), I've narrowed it down to 4 (1 off-white, 3 beiges), now just trying to figure out which looks best with the kitchen backsplash. (I think they all look fine with the countertop, various woods, & living room, so it's coming down to the kitchen.) If anyone would like to share their opinions on the following choices, I'd appreciate any input: SW Creamy SW Canvas Tan BM Gentle Cream BM Dulce de Leche On the countertop Earlier in the living room, with other samples. SW Creamy is at the top. BM Gentle Cream is on the bottom. Earlier in the living room, with other samples. BM Dulce de Leche is at the top. SW Canvas Tan is 3rd from the top. I've discovered it is very hard to capture beige on camera! Hopefully you can see the subtle differences in these photos....See MoreRelated Professionals
