Siding- Cedar Shakes
Comments (8)not to be too opinionated but.... 7" definitely unless you're doing a small house. I on my house which is around 2000sqft, we did the 7" on the front and clapboard vinyl on the sides, and it looks really sweet. I've seen 5" on houses, and it looks fine, but from the street you can hardly tell its shake as they more closely resemble the clapboard. for reference, we used Mastic building products 7" ceder discovery in deep granite....See MoreHouse on lake what color siding and cedar shake
Comments (2)Looks like the roof is the one and only permanent element you have to consider. Can really do whatever you want. Being a lakehouse, I'd consider watery, aqua colors. For example, Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed SW6211 on the body, SW9133 Jasper Stone on the Cedar Shakes. Trim SW7103 Whitetail. With that color palette, you have a lot of choices for the front door. Pull a color from the roof for a wood stain, a bright red or coral. Keeping to contrasts low and calm, and wood-ish, lake-ish, I'd probably do SW 2809 Rookwood Shutter Green on the front door. (it says shutter in the name but it's a good front door color too)...See MorePaint front cedar shake different color from other 3 sides of siding??
Comments (7)All of the siding should be the same color. Don't paint your house the same color as the neighbor's house. There is a new development not far from my house. Each and every house is gray. Various shades of gray siding, gray rock, gray brick, gray driveways, gray roofs which all blend away into gray skies that can descend upon this part of the world for weeks at a time. Quite depressing....See MoreExterior Paint color given the roof (dark brown) and brick
Comments (3)Gray with darker gray trim or even black trim would look good. What is your budget? Does it allow for a new garage door? I agree with going with the MCM vibe. The gray would probably need to be a warmer gray so it doesn't fight with the brick.
