i'm not even up yet... gonna watch a health show, then I'll get up.

my rib area is much less painful now. I do have to be careful a few more days tho, so not to do something to interrupt its healing.

I have to go out later and I really hate doing that anymore. that's probably not a good sign - of something.

I thought about driving the 45 minutes to town, but with the cold, 43° this morning, 51° now, plus rain, and breezes, I just wanted to stay here, so I did.

I had bought some vintage sewing machine attachments and accessories from eBay that were delivered today. I had fun sorting, cleaning, and piecing out the parts I needed. I'll offer the extras to fellow sewists.

I managed to go to the bank today. that's about it. I forgot to put my trash bags in the car to drop off at my sister's, so I'll have to do that on Thurs.

did a load of laundry. I just remembered it a bit ago. so, at 10 pm here, I was out hanging it up. If I didn't do that, I'd have to put it thru another rinse in the morning. I still have to divided the chicken strips I cooked last night and freeze them. I'll leave a couple out for tomorrow. Next weekend I'll use a couple of them to make chicken and noodles.

Where's Shades? I sure wish we'd hear from Debbie.

I understand Shades is having trouble accessing Garden Web and vs. Houzz. I have never been on the Houzz side and don't get pop-ups when I'm signed in to Garden Web.

I miss her, too. She's so inspiring, creative, and just plain entertaining!

Tree men - or would that be "Monkey Boys?"

The Tree Man just called and said due to yesterday's rain(!) he won't be here until tomorrow - or Friday.

Now I have time to get a new crockpot. My old one is not safe; the crock does not come out and the lid is cracked.

I want to slow cook a roast to make pulled barbecue beef sandwiches and coleslaw for their lunch. Served on paper plates; outside if it's nice; inside of not. Sam will be delighted for company.

There's nowhere to get decent or affordable food in Larimore. I heard them complaining about it when they were working on the neighbor's trees last Friday.

There's a guy in the bucket in this photo. That gives you a scale of the tree, which is already half down.

They had this lift truck, plus a bobcat with a front-end claw loader, a stump grinder, a huge trailer, a "regular" truck, five chain saws, and five men that worked non-stop to get the four trees out. It took all day.

We're having them remove three even larger ones out of the back yard...but not "my" perfect maple but the garage.

Good grief! The whole week got away from me. I wasn't even doing anything remarkable. I got the mailbox post painted and the new mailbox lettered and installed. That was my highlight.

It's Thursday night. I'm glad I stopped by! We had a beautiful day here in the northeast.

Middle 70's but with a breeze.

My tea today was after lunch. I had to work (part-time job) today from 10:00 to 1:00.

I stopped to pick up sushi at the fruit and vegetable store. I share my lunch with my dog. He eats everything except raw carrots and mushrooms. I had my Breakfast Bold tea, (Dunkin Donuts) after lunch. Then it was a walk to the park with the dog.

I also hope Shades finds her way back :)

Eld, my Sam loves carrots; aren't dogs just the best? I've never offered him mushrooms; he doesn't care for cucumbers, but snacks on about all the other vegetables.

I need to stop in here more often, even though I seldom drink tea. Diet Coke ok?

my dog is made for the broccoli in the three kinds spicy, extra spicy chinese takeout I get. Broccoli in any other sauce, no way. Any other vegetable in 3 kinds...no way. He also loves frozen green beans.

I second, or third, or fourth, wishing Shades would return.

We had our final farmers market yesterday at our "downtown" location. Next week we move to the church's parking lot for the month of October and then inside the Fellowship Hall for the rest of the winter - through April. The summer was fun though it managed to rain at least part of the day almost every Thursday! But the last three remained dry.

I have a white rocking chair (I'm sitting in it now) that a friend is going to paint for me in exchange for my cutting her grass for free. I went today and picked out a semi-gloss in a lovely lavender shade! The plan is for her to do the painting on Tuesday morning. I'm so looking forward to that. It's the little things.............

I'll be digging potatoes and onions this weekend, if it isn't raining. No rain for nearly three months and now every weekend. It's needed and I love it, but really? on the weekend?

I decided last night I need to paint my bed. Currently a dirty looking yellowish white. I'm planning light gray.

I don't think shades will be back. She is busy with other things and the "new improved" houzz is not to her liking. It's not to mine either. All the houzz posts and posters mixed in with our forums sucks. Mostly I come here to rest my brain; a bit of diversion and small talk with a small group. It's just not the same any more. I will make an effort to stop by on Tuesdays. Or Wednesdays. Or when I remember. The tea thread seems to be just us and that's what I come here for.

I'll be buttoning up the acreage for winter in October. My handyman will be helping me lay new floor in an upstairs bedroom next weekend. I've been living with my new dishwasher in the middle of the living room floor. Having been without it for so long, I really don't miss it and wish now I wouldn't have had the knee jerk reaction to order one when the other one died at 20 months of age. But even when it's installed I don't have to use it. I want to get my ducts sealed and that's $1500-1700. A 3rd shingle has blown off the roof and it looks like the hail storms we had have done a number on the shingles. So money, money, money. I'll be living even more frugally than usual.

I don't notice a difference coming here - except more posts by others for help with this or that. I hardly ever go on the kitchen forum anymore - or any of the others. I've just enjoyed our little group here... I never go to the houzz part. I have seen promos for houzz on tv lately. thought that was weird.

my dog loves carrots and she also loves broccoli, cauliflower, apples and bananas. she's weird. I cut her up a carrot for her snacks... the others, she gets bites of when I have them.

I've changed doctors, and hope this new one will be more pro-active with me. I go in this week to see the PA. He is on vacation, but I didn't want to wait. I figure she can order some blood tests to get us started. I want to know if my levels of magnesium, b-12 and some other things are where they should be. and make sure my potassium came up. It was so low in July, I ended up in the ER. I do hope I like this doctor. I don't like changing them. I was spoiled by having the same one for 20 yrs, until he left private practice about 4 yrs ago.

In Nov I have my 2nd eye surgery (the right). before then I have to go back to the retinal doctor to be checked out. Then I hope to squeeze in some dental work before the Nov eye surgery. That sounds like a lot to me, just typing it out. I have canceled Christmas this yr as far as sending out gifts tho. I was sure I wouldn't be able to do that. Will send the kids $s so they can have a pizza night or whatever 'takeout' they want. that should help relieve some pressure on at least 1 of their pressure filled days with work and kids. They have so much to do at that time. I don't even like to think about all I did at that age - it scares me - lol! it just seemed 'normal' back then. I probably did more in a day, than I do now in a week. And i'm still tired these days.

I love Earl Grey, so I'm drinking that and trying to catch up on Houzz threads. It's so good to 'see' everyone. I hope Shades will be back, too. And ML.

Anyway, just wanted to stop and say 'hi' and hope everyone is having a wonderful autumn. So much to do before winter, but this is such a lovely time of year!

i'm glad to see the heat go - not that I want the really cold to show up... it can get down to 30 (or even less) here. that's usually only a few nights tho. but I have to remember to cover the pump when that happens!

I am (just mentally so far) planning on what I have to do to move the printer stand/printer from the 'winter place' of the heater/fireplace. That'll come up quickly - I want it in place before eye surgery, so I'm not caught with a really cold night and no heater. the really cold ones don't usually come until maybe Feb tho. and I need to get my blanket out (ok, it's about 5' away from the bed).

OTOH, things don't seem to go the way I think they should, so we could have snow in Nov - lol!

And I need to be looking for a different vehicle. going to look at Honda CRVs, maybe 8 yrs old or so. planned to do that this month, but the days have gotten away from me.

i'm going to email the local church to see if their 'ranch guys' can come here and put up a fenced area (out front) for my dog. It's right outside my bedroom window (so hopefully I won't forget she's out there) and the front door is close to my bedroom door - so not far to go to let her out and in - especially at night.

I've got some fencing out there and my 'helper person' says there seems to be enough metal posts on the land that can be used to put it up. they'll just have to dig the post holes and put it together. They do this to fund the 'ranch' (halfway house down the road a way). my 'helper' has been sick (she's been having seizures) and has another job that has been hard on her, so she hasn't been by here to help lately. hopefully, she can get on disability. I don't see much chance of her getting a regular job - she's a liability to companies - as was I, when I had to quit working. They don't want to take on a known liability.
