I believe that this particular line of tile is outside of their normal line and made exclusively for Lowes. The color is not the same as their normal line of tile and they just don't make some of the pieces. They CAN special order anything you can get at a regular tile store - ie AO's ice white subway tile (with all of the accessory pieces), but at about 6 times the price of their gloss white in stock subway tiles (more expensive than local tile stores). Lowes "gloss white" is not available anywhere but Lowes and only in the pieces they stock. Believe me, I went several rounds with them on this in more than one store. What they have in stock is what they have for their very inexpensive line of tile. kaypeakay, have you priced out just using daltile rittenhouse square for the whole project? I've seen some really great prices on that stuff posted here. For some reason AO (except in stock at Lowes) is much more expensive. Maybe you won't have to mismatch.

Subwaytile, Originally I had ordered Carrara marble chair rails for the hall bath but for whatever reason (miscommunication or oversight by tile designer at store) they were never received. Because we were about to put our house on the market we decided to go for the more inexpensive alternative. I still like the bathroom as it is. The chair rail would have made it a bit more dressed up. The only other regret I have is not putting in a vanity. Again, since we were about to sell we decided to forgo the vanity and put a pedestal sink in. Although I love the clean streamlined look of the pedestal sink, I think we could use the extra storage. Tell him to cap it the same way he'd cap the end of a piece of baseboard-- miter the end of the last piece of chair rail next to each side of the mirror, and cut a wedge shaped plug for the end, and then grout in the gap, just as was done at the end of the chair rail on the right in this picture:

Thanks Shaughnn and Bill. My husband went to the Daltile center in NYC today - the unglazed tile will not work. Shaughnn: I haven't tried the tile stone, but I'll definitely get the tile stone for this and future projects. Though, I don't think it will give the clean, finished look I want. Bill: The shower is not in alcove like in the picture but open to the rest of the bathroom. Here's a picture of what I'm writing about. Will I just have to accept this unfinished edge? I know the grout will cover most of it but it's the "unleveled-ness" of the joints that's going to irk me.
