Which color to paint DD's new big girl bed?
Comments (32)I see the parenting dilemma here. This little girl is one intense package. We've been dealing with her tantrums and drama for a long time. We even had a private session with the child development expert in town who assures me that part of her intenseness is her age. Developmentally, the six months between 4.5 and 5y.o. is apparently THE worst time to make it through as a parent of a young child. I usually am the bada$$ parent. I do not give in to her tantrums. I repeat daily to her that "a tantrum doesn't get you what you want." And it doesn't. I agree that always giving in at a young age sets a bad precedent. This was different. It wasn't a tantrum. It was a sad little heart thinking for more than a month that she was going to get a pink bed then being told she wasn't. I think a 4 3/4 y.o. is old enough to have *some* input on what her room looks like....See MoreNeed advice on window treatments for big girl room
Comments (14)@millworkman And what I'm saying is that it already is in the more general forum as well, so you don't need to direct traffic. Just reply or don't. Plantation shutters can be nice, but honestly, most people end up leaving them closed and lose both light and view. I prefer an accordian blind, and these days you can get them cheaply in the bottom-up top-down conformation, which allows you to leave them open for light even when privacy is needed.Otherwise, the venitian blinds are just fine, and replace the valence with something a bit more mature looking, or add a sheer that can be pulled to one side....See MoreNeed help selecting a dining room rug since house makeover
Comments (13)That Van Deusen Blue and your wallpaper in your entry is gorgeous. (and love it on the wall as well.) I think your dining room rug could work but the rest of the room looks a little too weak compared to the others. Are you considering painting the dining room as well? I see you say you are getting new chairs etc for dining room- it's hard to picture what direction you are going. I could see the first rug that JCK posted ( the strong blue) working....See MoreHelp designing my daughter’s big girl room
Comments (10)A canopy would work as long as it’s a twin. I love that look and kind of forgot to explore that option!!! And I agree, tall bureaus aren’t ideal but unfortunately it’s my only choice in this room. There’s only wall space for one horizontal dresser and she will really need the extra storage of the two lingerie chests since her closet is tiny. All of our furniture throughout our home is anchored to the wall (she’s our 3rd kid), so that will be a given. This won’t be her forever room, so trying to make do for the next five or so years until we either move or build an addition. I absolutely adore those drawer pulls 😍 thank you SO much for the recommendation!...See Moreer612
