Raising the roofline to add transom windows above existing windows

We are looking at a renovation project. A 4200 sq ft 70's build with a mid century modern look. The great room is approximately 30 ft in width by 20 ft in depth. There are six 5 ft wide by 8 ft in height picture windows running along the entire 30 ft width of the wall looking out to the backyard. The ceiling height is 20 ft at it's highest point (towards the back/entrance to the room and then slopes down to about 9 - 10 ft along the wall of picture windows. I would like to make that pitch not so steep and add more windows above the existing ones but don't have the height to do so. We would be wanting about 5 additional ft above the existing windows so we could add 3 ft in height by 5 ft in width transom windows. Basically I want to make an even greater giant wall of windows looking out to our view. There is no second story. It is just that section of roof that would be involved. Do we have to raise the roof to do this? If so, would it just be this section of roof or the entire thing.? Obviously we would get an architect/engineer involved but just looking to see if it's even do-able and worth it from a cost point of you. Unfortunately we are blessed with a 20 ft wall of windows to the back in our existing home so once you get used to that you really like it. What would the approximate cost be...10K or more like 20K. Thanks!
