white ceiling molding meets dark cabinet trim

We are building a new home and our builder and our designer have completely opposite opinions about how to handle this corner where the ceiling molding meets the built in cabinet. The picture is how the builder installed it. Our designer thinks it's hideous. She thinks we should take off the flat trim at the top of the cabinet and use ceiling molding stained to match the cabinets. Our builder thinks this will look much worse because the mitered corner will be even more of an angle. We are at the end of the building process and are a little burned out of so many decisions. Is this hideous or acceptable as it is? Would stained molding look significantly better or is it okay to leave it? Help us out here folks. Thanks for any input you have.
