Comments (20)I contacted a local "screen" company. They rep a company I hadn't heard of, Genius. I think they are relatively new. https://www.geniusscreens.com/products/door-screens/zigzag-screen. Prices were comparable to Phantom. For my 8' tall, 11' wide door, they recommended the accordion type of screen (like Brio) vs the Phantom. It has a full frame, and a nice, locking handle. It also can open from either side. It turns out that while the place I ordered my folding doors (Panoramic) reps Brio, they do not have a display. I was able to see one at my local home store, Friedman's. It didn't look like it has a full frame, and the handle was flimsy and had no lock. I have a call in to the Panoramic rep to confirm....See Morefireplace screen
Comments (8)You should never alter a fireplace without the help of an expert. Installing glass could be very dangerous for a number of reasons 1) it could explode because you used the wrong type of glass 2) it could explode because there isn't an efficient venting system 3) before it explodes, the glass will get extremely hot anyways, making it ineffective at protecting pets and young ones The only way to install glass, would be to install panels on to the sides only, and leave the front open. Your best bet would be a mesh screen. Talk to your local fireplace retailer about your options. They should be able to help you out with a custom screen....See MoreHelp me find a fireplace spark screen for this weird situation
Comments (1)Hansen Wholesale specializes in custom fireplace doors for fireplaces just like yours. We would replace your existing doors with a new frame and doors that are made from 3/16" thick laser cut solid steel that can be burned with the doors opened or closed. Here's an example: This is a bifolding door, so there are 4 panels of glass instead of 2, which makes it more convenient and less invasive on your space when the doors are open. It can be made with a mesh curtain or flat wire mesh doors behind the glass so you can safely burn your fire with the doors open or closed.
