Need help choosing window treatment color!
Comments (6)My first thought from looking at the pictures was to paint the window surround white, because your kitchen and dining set are already so dark. I would put cream colored shades that match your kitchen countertop to keep the look neutral. Window coverings are not what you should first notice when you walk into a room; they are more of a neutral background for everything else in the room. A room can look too chopped up when the eye is drawn to the window coverings....See MoreNeed help choosing window blinds.
Comments (2)Brought all my cellular shades at Home Depot online! They cut all them to size and you can pick them up at the store or they will mail them to your home. The length were all standard size. I thought it would not look right at frist but they are so thin that a 64" length on a 48" window length was fine. I save around $1,200 not including installation costs! Installation was slow for the first cellular shade and then you progress in speed. I could do a shade including unboxing the shade, drilling the holes, screw in the attachments and putting the shade into the brackets in about 5-10 minutes time. It was very enjoyable after the 4th one. You are sort of like a robot after that! I did 23 windows! I just used two small battery operated drills; one for drilling the 1/16" pilot hole for the mounting brackets and another drill for screwing in the screws. Both were the super small lithium 12" volt type drills....See MoreWindow treatment above window seat---blinds vs. curtains
Comments (12)Thanks so much for the feedback! This is super helpful. Does anyone know if there's a place where you can buy Roman shades without going through a custom window covering company? Or do they need to be custom made because of window size?...See MoreHelp....window treatments! Cornice board, blinds, curtains OH MY!
Comments (6)Definitely some sort of shade on the windows. But not inside mount. The windows are set fairly low on the wall, so to lengthen the wall, I'd mount the shades much higher up, and maybe use one shade for every two windows. And paint the white trim the same color as the walls--right now the contrast is not a good look. Here are some examples of what you could do:...See More- 6 years ago
