Lamp Height for Bedroom Night Table
Comments (4)Hi. Thanks for the responses. To answer some of your questions.. The actual dimensions of the night table is 27"W; 15" Deep; 27" High. I would say that the top of the headboard of the bed in proportion to the night table is about 25" higher than the night table. Since the master bedroom has an overhead light, the lamp that I want to buy to place on the night table, will not be used for dressing, but more for reading while in bed. I am not sure if a lamp that is over 27"/28" in height would look to cluttered on the night table, but I agree with the comment that it has to be high enough to give off enough light while reading in bed. I just didn't want anything too imposing. Since I'm thinking of a candlestick type lamp (which is very thin), I suppose the area won't look too overpowering....See MoreIs this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? (pics!)
Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MoreGot Night Stands/ Please vote on lamps
Comments (34)I folks. I haven't had a time to catch up with forum reading today. DH and I are on vacation in Charleston! What a beautiful city. I can't stay on the computer long, but I wanted to thank everyone for the great lamp suggestions. Nanny2a - I love that lamp! That just might be a winner, although it is more than I wanted to pay. So what do you guys thing of that one? Does it have a cottagey feel? I am through trying to match the one in the inspiration picture, but do want to stay with the feel of the room. I saw an alabaster lamp at Homegoods a few days ago. I'm going to look at it again when I get home. I know the shade was awful, but I could change that. My3Dogs, I want to take another look at the marble ones you found. I can't use the brass lamp I have, 'cause I only have one. Mom2Reese - that red lamp has a pretty shape, and I might end up having to paint, but I'm hoping to find one ready to plug in. Kimberly - here is a link to some of the pictures. There are other pictures of it on another sight. I can give those to you once I get home. Or google Carolina Jessamine Cottage Here is a link that might be useful: Cottage Link...See MoreBedroom in Progress
Comments (44)My new to me headboard was damaged in shipping but the Etsy seller handled it like a real class act. But, in the interim, I ordered a replacement from another Etsy seller and I am holding my breath that the new new one will arrive in "normal vintage, with some wear" condition :-) But, here's some progress shots (and a bonus of my "ladies office" that I carved out at the top of the stair landing) As wide a shot as one can get in a tiny room (less than 10x10 with a wall of windows that get the morning light) That's the PBteen Qunicy scallop bedding. I also have a trellis and a floral pattern. The duvet is really there to keep my dog from getting all his dog business on my white Peacock Alley coverlet and to add a little contrast. I am waiting to see what I feel like I need above the bed after the headboard is the same Easton Green Amy Howard lacquer. Of course the current headboard blends right into the SW Naval wall. Here's a tight shot of the bedding: My dresser, which is in the "breezeway" between the bedroom pod and the sitting room trapped behind it: I still need to change the lampshade and properly accessorize it. I have a mirror coming. My bird's nest fern is just there because there's no table in the sitting room and I don't want to forget to water it. And a bonus shot of the office area: It's a CB2 peek-a-boo acrylic console with a vintage Chinese Chippendale chair (with an IKEA sheepskin on it). It is small but it is mighty this office of mine. I love it. There's a great window to the left that overlooks my neighbor's pretty Rose of Sharon tree (but I can't see into his yard). The desk area still needs some accessorizing, hence the tight shot, but so far, I am so very happy with this house. The accent walls really energize me and I love all the color after years of being a slave to neutrals. The wall color is SW Begonia....See Morelaughablemoments
