String of pearls looking like strings of tears... what's wrong?
Comments (7)Yes, agree with LilBit, definitely means more water. I find that they need more water than most succulents. Mine is just some small cuttings from a store, and since they aren't in gritty mix either, I thought I would water them less and they soon became wrinkled and ill-looking for quite awhile....until I decided to water them few days in a roll and it was like filling water balloons with water. Now I water them whenever the top inch of the soil is dry. Before After...See MoreHelp! I think my string of pearls is dead?

Comments (1)It’s time to restart your string of pearls:). I find with Senecio rowleyanus aka String of Pearls they sometimes need a restart. This video is good. The brown nubs are new roots. The nub I circled red is a healthy new root, but not sure what’s going on in the white circle. Could just be the pic. They also could look strange because they’re old and calloused over. If I could give any advice with these it would be really good airflow. They can handle a decent amount of water for succulents. They need a fast draining mix. A good cheap mix is 60% rinsed/dried perlite and 40% cactus soil. Senecio rowleyanus aka String of Pearls are actually ground cover in their natural habitat. That’s why roots form all along the strands. Pics from Dave’s Garden....See MoreWhy is my string of pearls barely growing and what can I do?
Comments (0)Hi, I honestly don’t know why my string of pearls doesn’t want to thrive. I don’t give it too much or too little water. I just gave it succulent fertilizer for the first time recently. It is just growing soooo slow and I don’t know why. It also gets a lot of bright light. Is there anything else I should be doing to help it grow faster?...See More- 6 years ago
