Need re-upholstery advice (and maybe rug advice, too)
Comments (2)Here's an update: I bought a new rug. The picture quality is not the greatest as I took it with my phone, but here it is: It is returnable, so I would like some thoughts on it! I love the colour (a mixture of blues and browns), and I think the pattern will help hide our day to day messes (compliments of Bandit, on the loveseat, and her two teenagers!) I also like that it is a less traditional feel than the old rug. I went on my first fabric hunting trip yesterday, but came up empty. I'm still not sure what direction to go for the chairs. Thanks, Carrie...See MoreColor advice for sofa/chairs/rug
Comments (37)I'd make sure whatever shade of teal you choose complements (it doesn't need to match) the SW Lagoon in the adjoining dining room. The bottom shelves on the tables aren't in play that much because of their size and the fact that they're horizontal and quite low down. It does sound like you have enough grey in the house, especially in nearby rooms. And I think a sofa in grey or any other non-complementary tone will keep the space looking more "cluttered" than you want it to. Having the new sofa and wall color in complementary shades will make for a well-considered, purposeful, cohesive look. Not at all cheesy or whimsical....See MoreHelp! Accent wall advice
Comments (9)The color you picked is beautiful, but I'm afraid it wouldn't really work well with the color of the dining room chairs. Blue and orange can look very nice together, but you don't really have those colors carried throughout the rooms. If you had an area rug with those colors and art and maybe upholstery in a piece in the living room, it could work. Is the red in the living room there all the time or just for your Christmas decor? Instead of an accent wall (they have kind of fallen out of favor in home decorating), perhaps you could bring some color and life to your rooms using some pretty area rugs, one in the living room, one under the table. Then look for some art to hang that will also add some color. I, too, think you could find something more interesting (and colorful) than the clock. To break up the large area of wall to the right of the tv, I might look for a tall cabinet of some kind, a bookcase, small china cabinet or such. Then hang some art between the dining room windows....See MoreRug to go with cream, tan couches and navy accent chairs
Comments (8)So, it is best to post pictures rather than links. Also, a picture of the actual room is very helpful. Design is visual and lots with good ideas may pass your dilemma over without pictures. Why 2 different color couches? And I did click on the rug links and love the west elm rug...See MoreRelated Professionals
