Dark powder room

My powder room has a curly maple cabinet with princetown cambria and black faucet with a clear crystal sink. The flooring is evening sky by Invoke. There is one window. I need to know if SW dark forest brown or SW plum brown would work or would it be too dark? This is just a photo of the cabinet and sink not the actual room. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Your images shows a sink/vanity with a brownish purple wall. Looks fine for the most part as far as tones go. I'm not seeing the color combo "sing" imho. I know this isn't your room, but you mentioned that wall color in your post. Is this image of your actual room? Some of the color choices would be clarified with accessories. Have you tried the decorators forum on GW?

I personally would pick a brighter color like a dark red or a shade of blue or green depending on what you prefer.

1) Personally, I do not think all of the hardware has to match in finish. I have mixed chrome and brushed nickel and stainless in the same room. Personally, I prefer them to be in the same "family" (ie: silver colors), but that's just a personal preference. 2) I do not think that hardware finishes have a strong impact on whether a room looks dark or light. I believe that paint, floor color, countertop color, and vanity color have a much bigger impact on how dark a room feels because they fill up the space. 3) If you really like the contrast of dark wood (and/or dark granite or something) with the white, go for it. Consider using a light colored wall paint to keep the room from feeling too dark. I love the striking contrast of white and dark wood. 4) What other finishes would you like to mix in?

We are looking at houses today, including the one that we had previously placed an offer on. Oddly enough, they wouldn't counter our offer, but they have already lowered the price 10K. But I have already talked myself out of it for issues such as the easement and the street that it is on. I don't know if this was a self protection, my way of dealing with disappointment, or if these things are still really valid and need to be strongly taken into consideration. I'll see what my reactions are to it this time around! Check out this beauty of a room at the house I loved but my husband didn't. This is a master bedroom with gorgeous wall and ceiling moldings and bay window nook. I can just picture it with a vintage chandelier in place. You have a lot going on with three different tile patterns and the sink. I think you have enough pattern in there but you might want to look at some wallpaper books anyway. If I were ever going to use a dark paint color, I would use it where I have natural light coming in. I don't think that detracts from the drama at all, in fact I think the window allows a nice rest from the dark color. Your wow can come from an unusual color choice ...it does not have to be a dark color. You could also use mirror on all of the remaining drywall. You already have quite a bit of silver/glam, mirror would take that to the next level.

Thanks! I will post on the decorating site on garden web. This isn't my powder room or the wall paint color or countertop. It is the vanity I am going with. Now I have to figure out how to transfer my post to home decorating haha.

I'm awful with color, but I'm inclined to lean towards CP's answer: I'd like to see something bright in this spot. I understand that this isn't your actual room, but if your room is similarly small, I'd lean towards white or cream.

I have to say, I'm not crazy about this vanity. For such a small vanity, it seems to have "too much going on" -- so many materials -- wooden base, counter top, vessel sink. I think I'd like it better if it were a less "visible" standard in-the-cabinet sink.
