Where to hang towel bar for hand towels?
Do you have a towel bar for wet hand towels? If so, is it on the side? in front? Against painted wall? against wood cabinet? against tiled wall? On a free-standing towel bar on the counter? Or just sitting on the counter?
I like the way this one looks, but I don't like a wet towel hanging against wood.
Next one, same position, but against waterfall edge of cabinet.
Is it better to have the towel hanging above the cabinet than to hang next to it? In this bathroom, it looks like the wet end is hanging against the tiled portion of wall.
Or this one, where the whole wall was tiled.
Maybe this one, but shrinks the mirror space

2 Towel Rings or Double Hook for Hand Towels?
Comments (3)Stephanie's is actually a stand - I have one, can only put fingertip towels on it since it's so short. But works for DD, I'm thinking a towel ring or hook on the back wall b/t mirrors when she gets taller. Why don't you buy an inexpensive stand and try it to see how you like it before you commit? Hooks are easier, but rings look neater (if people bother to fold the towels before slipping them through the rings) and I think are more secure - the towels don't fall off them like they do the hooks. Hooks or rings, a position on the side wall near each sink may be more convenient, not just for kids, depending on how far apart the sinks are/how far from the walls they are. You could always place the hook for the "in-use" bath towel higher and closer to the shower and still fit a hook or ring closer to the sink and lower (just check the length of your handtowels, remember they're not doubled on a hook like they are on a ring, so hook would be higher than ring in the same location). I don't know if you really need to frame out for hooks or rings like you do for bars - unless you think your kids would really pull on them....See MoreHand towel bar or hook

Our sales guy really pushed us to go with certain things (like the Cifial faucet)--good quality at good price points, at least when compared to some of the other stuff we liked! We really didn't "have a choice." He said get this, so we did. Comments (11)You can have a hook, a bar, lay it on the countertop, or my favorite--a large towel ring. The advantages of a hook, bar, or ring are simple----the towel dries infinitely faster, thus minimizing the chances of any habitable bacterial environment. Damp or wet towels on a countertop are far more likely to harbor a nutrient surface for bacteria. 6 years agoThe hand towels in my guest bathroom / powder room get very wet. I think my teen son uses them to wash his face. I plan to remodel my son's bathroom next year.
The first picture below is of my remodeled guest bathroom. In this room, the toilet is next to the vanity, so side of vanity was obvious place to hang TP holder, not a towel. Contractor was reluctant to hang the towel bar on the wall because the towels cover the electrical outlet. In my master bathroom, I have no towel bars, so hand towels sit on the counter.
The layout in my son's room is more like the "By the Bay" Houzz photo above, there will be space for a towel bar on either the right-side side of the vanity or on the wall to the left (as in the "Art House" Houzz photo). But ... I'm thinking about keeping a medicine cabinet on the wall, so would be crowded to add a towel bar here, as in second photo below, taken at an open house in my area.

6 years agoMy space was tight so I got a towel tree. It was expensive. But if money for such things is an issue, one could get a coat tree and paint it to match the room.
