Open Floorplan: living room/dining room OR extra big living room?
Comments (12)I vote for hardwood or engineered wood through the whole space, including the kitchen. Opening the wall would be nice, but I suspect your appliances are arrayed along that wall? I'd paint the wall the same pale color as the living space, and hang a really big mirror on the wall if you can't open it. Then you open the wall visually, and reflect the light from the sliders back into the space. (I know...me and mirrors. They are great manipulators of space, particularly when you commit to making them big!)...See MorePainting my Living Room/dining room.
Comments (3)A sage green would probably go with a dark blue. Also greens in the lime color would work. I would pick a blue that is much lighter that goes well with the dark...See MoreHelp! What color should I paint my living room-dining room?
Comments (4)Since it is all so open, I would paint the same color in the kitchen, dining and living. Maybe the creamy white of your dining chairs would work throughout. If you don't want to paint the kitchen, you could bring that same color into the dining/living. Or you could take another shade from that same color strip/card and bring that into the living/dining. Other improvements: your rugs are too small, and so are your lamps. Your dining light is dated and your art is dissonant and not hung correctly. The coffee table is too large and heavy, and I would match drapes to the wall color once you figure that out. I do like your red cabinet and blue cache-pot! Have you thought about installing drown molding? How high are your walls? Here's a creamy white on walls (Navajo White) and brighter on trim (White Dove) so you can get the idea, even though this is not the style of your home....See MoreFill my foyer…and dining room and living room and…
Comments (5)In order for a place like this to be designed properly you need an overall plan. First of all you need to know your house style and what suits it. Then you need to know what you appreciate in colorway and so on. Inspiration pictures help with that. Research what do you like to define clearly your taste. Really though the best thing is to have somebody to come in and work with you too give you a plan which creates flow throughout your home. A consultation I think would go very far....See MoreLizzie Borden
