Paint Design Dilemma kids room

White paint recommendations

Hi, my 12yr old daughter wants a bedroom makeover! She wants to paint the walls white and bring in color through the wall art, bedding, chair, etc. My trim and doors are SW extra white semi gloss. my house is painted SW mega greige with blues and blacks. So do I want a cooler white as opposed to a warmer? Can someone recommend a couple of good whites that work well in bedrooms! Her jack and Jill bath is painted SW Amaryllis with same trim and doors extra white and white tile. Also, do I paint the ceiling the same as the walls or do ceiling white? Thanks!

SW heron plume would be great for a touch of contrast/compliment cool white trim color :)

You could do the ceiling Amaryllis to link the bath to the bedroom. Is there white trim in the bath? You could do the walls with that.

Yes there's the extra white trim in there but I feel it would be too stark on the walls. I like the idea of the ceiling Amaryllis but she wants it white.

If you love the color, love the pink undertone, it makes you happy and doesn't clash with other elements in the house(like floor for example)-why would it matter at all what somebody else said? Somebody else might have seen this Atrium White in hundred other homes, that had different light coming in, different aesthetics, etc. Every space is unique. Everybody swears by Revere Pewter-didn't work in my place. Does it mean it's a bad color? No, of course not. There is no such thing as a bad color..it can be bad combo of colors, or wrong surface for the color, or too much expanse for that color..that can happen, yes. But to say "that color is not a good color" as a general statement, without knowing the specific context-well, now that's strange. If that's the only thing that bothers you-I wouldn't repaint. If you feel it doesn't quite work in your context, and you don't enjoy it-it's a different issue.

This isn't enough information to really help you. There are thousands of gray and earth tone neutrals and we have no idea what colors you have. SW Pure White is generally a safe choice, but I don't know how it will look next to the whites you already have.

I would have to suggest that you opt for the warmer white color that will actually give you the cozy feel.

If she wants white is she going to be happy with off white? I absolutely cringe at the thought of off white. If it has tint, then it's something else that isn't white. I paint white out of a completely un-tinted can. The idea of using un-tinted white is our basis for decorating. The white sets off all the other colors used in the room.

PPG's Delicate White. Walls and ceiling. It's best if you buy it from PPG so you get a true Delicate White. Pure Performance eggshell is not shiny, looks matte would be good for a kid's room

SW Incredible White or Eider White would be my recommendations. Still a clean, cooler white but has a nice contrast to Extra White and works with Mega Greige nicely.
