Need advice: Ceiling Mounted Curtain Tracks (and curtains)
Comments (6)I am doing ceiling mounted track and floor to ceiling sheers and drapes with blackout. This is essentially a custom proposition. The rod is made of standard components, but the whole assembly is custom. However, I am not doing a valance so the top of the drape to the floor measurement has to be perfect (and this is some measurement like (Floor to ceiling measurement) - (hardware height measurement) also taking into account location of the hooks on the drapes. I am also doing double traverse rods with pulleys. I think you have to use traverse rods and carriers to hook the curtains on, with or without pulleys because nothing can go over the rod because the rod is attached to the ceiling. You can get Ripplefold Drapes with ceiling track included from The ShadeStore and they have measuring instructions. But if you are making a valance it may not be necessary to do ceiling mounted drapery hardware, you could do wall mounted hardware and hang the fixed valance only from the ceiling....See MoreAdvice for hanging curtains on 11ft ceilings!
Comments (0)Hi! I need help on how to hang curtains in my studio apartment with 11ft ceilings. It has three beautiful windows. I like the ripple fold look with the track, are my ceilings to high to hang them from the ceiling like in the third pic? I am confused on how to do this! Thanks in advance!...See MoreHanging Single Panel Curtain with Tie Back Advice
Comments (10)Wow really? Maybe that's why I can't find many inspiration images online :D I really do like that look though. Here's the room. (sorry for the bad lighting, this room doesn't have a ceiling light.) Its been half finished for years and now I want to change it completely, but, in the mean time, want to hang the curtains differently than I had them, which was just full length panels on both sides, with rod hung close to the ceiling. I like the side pull back because I think it will soften the shades (which look better when they are open) and I don't like pullbacks on both sides. Thank you for response!...See MoreNeed Help with Hanging Curtains in Odd Position!
Comments (18)I don't have close-ups of the hardware, but here you can see the curtains I mentioned in my previous post from a distance. We made the curtain rod and brackets with the black and white curtains out of steel pipe and fittings so it was easy to just use a plain threaded flange on the left side to screw the rod into. In our guest bedroom I wanted something less industrial looking, so we used normal Pottery Barn hardware on the right, and on the left we repurposed an old flange that was part of a wall bracket and I spray painted it to match the rod and other hardware. In your situation I would suggest hanging your curtains from drapery rings (rather than pole pockets) to make it super easy to open them when you need to access the door and close them when you want privacy. I guess because I have curtains hung against walls, I don't think it would automatically look bad in your case, especially if you used something light and airy. It won't be obvious that the door is so close to the fireplace if you hang the bracket in just the right spot so the curtains cover the edge of the left door but don't overlap with the fireplace. I actually hung our curtains in part because I didn't like how the windows looked kind of crammed against the walls. The curtains allowed me to make the windows look more balanced, at least to my eye. I'm not a pro though, so take my advice for what it's worth ;)...See Moreeverdebz
