Toni, The only growers that retuned my email are = Four Winds Mckenzie Farms Laguna Hills Friends Ranch Still waiting for all others to respond.(not holding breath) I just bought a Miho from Acorn. A great upright Mandarin! But no kishu's. Four Wind, has started propagation. They said they could be ready in a year or two. I was going to ask if you found one! I'm glad you did. When it recovers, you might look for someone who can graft some of it onto the sour orange. BTW, I found some sour oranges at a gourmet store, and am going to make orange marmalade with it. These are the Seville oranges. I suggest you remove the little fruit that it has on it. It really, really needs to spend this year growing roots and strong branches. It has a long way to go to recover from neglect, and needs all of its energy to go into that. It is recommended for citrus anyway, not to let them produce fruit the first year for just that reason. Yes, I know it's hard, I've had to do it with 7 citrus so far, and am planting 3 or 4 more this year.

Just for the record: I understand that Andrew has not been satisfied with Logee's. My experience has been different. Although the citrus plants, for example, have been smaller than Four Winds' at the same price, they have grown well. Moreover, I have not been totally satisfied with Four Winds' citrus. Spring of 2009 I bought 4 that arrived looking very good. Two have grown very little. Another had a bad graft with the top and bottom ends sticking out that took a year to heal. The last has grown very nicely. I have never grown dwarf citrus before and so I may be expecting something of them that they do not deliver. I am not totally panning Four Winds. I would order from them again. Hope my experiences help someone. Cath

In my opinion, Kishu is one of the best. (Maybe in the top 3 or 4 for mandarins, but that's just going by personal preference) Effortless to peel, good taste, seedless when not pollinated by a different variety, or you might only find one seed in every other fruit. The fruit size is very small, but considering how easy and little effort it takes to peel, that's not really an issue. Kishu is also believed to be one of the original parents of Satsuma, and is probably where Satsuma got its loose skin from. Also, you can't judge the taste of a variety by the fruits of the first couple of years. Satsuma from 4-year-old trees tastes a little watery and bland, but some of the best mandarins I've had came from a 25+ year old Satsuma tree.
