What to do with musical instruments for Showings?
Comments (14)Lyfia, that's what Capenter explained about "code", too. He had also been a building (commercial) inspector before retiring. The joists were code compliant when built. And the slate... Carpenter showed Inspector that it was rated for fireplaces. It's in the write-up from the FP manufacturer...pre-installed. So glad I've saved all the original documents. GrayWings, the one harp I'll keep here lays down. Right now I have him up on the closet shelf in the bedroom. Ah, the joys of a 4-pound/4-foot harp. I've used an X-pen during "harp petting zoos". Very effective for keeping them from running loose around the hall LOL. And keeping mittengrabbins with dirty mittens from grabbing. Almost forgot! Carpenter put in a GFI plate, that was all that was needed. The receptacle was wired for it. He said the foreman probably ran out of GFI plates & told the crew to use a regular one. It's on the GFI circuit properly now. The cracked stair step underside we're discussing. And TaDa, I squirted WD-40 on the latch. No more sticky latch :-) When do we get to the fun stuff?!? My scene & set design skills are languishing. Are we there yet? I'm bored. Ooops! Once the dust settles, I'll probably be posting pictures, asking a slew of questions about "staging", too. Are first-time house sellers as "retentive" as we're being :-)...See Moreplease help my schizo music studio
Comments (11)Envelope- assuming you mean the skeleton/groundwork? Envelope meaning the color of the floor, walls, ceiling and trim. That makes up the color envelope of the room in to which you put the contents. Contents being rugs, furniture, accessories, art -- all your stuff. If you keep it neutral and cohesive, then you have a flexible envelope. That way the space can evolve over time as you add and/or change the contents. With this strategy you don't need a bold accent wall or to boldly accent mediocre architectural elements like the ceiling beams. Mediocre not in a bad way, but they're just beams kinda way. Because the more bells and whistles you add to the envelope, the less your special contents will stand out. If everything is special, than nothing is. Keep the envelope simple so your stuff like the guitars have some room to shine....See MoreBM green for a man room/studio
Comments (20)I've got an old House Beautiful issue on colour that I like leafing through whenever someone is looking for a colour. Some of the designers' descriptions make me want to repaint my whole house. Anyway, in it, BM's Sweet Caroline is described by David Mitchell as "a sophisticated color -a crisp, pale green with a gray undertone. It makes everything else in the room come alive." Honestly, on my monitor, it looks a bit dull but what do I know? :) I'd go with a vibrant green like Chic Lime as cawaps suggested. Does your husband prefer clear or muted colours? BM do have quite a selection of greens! Good luck!...See MoreHelp with assisted living studio furniture layout
Comments (45)Would it be that we all aged at ninety plus to this?: Yes....... the wonderful lady, client and now dear friend is one whose apartment at senior living i remodeled, and also " mini re created" her former address. Will be 93 this summer, and she is INCREDIBLE. She doesn't shuffle, has no mobility issues..........however. Note no thresholds, area rugs that can come up. A kitchen with her favorite place to sit -at the counter on a Serena and Lily stool . We should all be so damn lucky. She wishes she had made the move SOONER and is enjoying the heck out of her busy life there. ( she's yapping on the phone second pic.... hard to catch up with her. Swim, bridge, duplicate bridge........"dinner with the WIDOWS" LOL " I have accepted that this will not be MY old age conditions, unless I cease eating and drinking.... and a lot of other stuff too : ) Folks? Go before you need to go. Don't cling to junk. Your kids don't want it. Or want a miniscule fraction of it. Whenever I read one of these "age in place" dilemmas? I think.....yeah.............right. You need friends, community, and spur of the moment help. Or as a doctor said to me: "At a little over eighty, your physiology balances on the head of a straigh PIN." Memorize it....See Moreapple_pie_order
